I'd like to visit the Akershus restaurant while I'm at the park in August. Any advice on how good it is, and what meal is the best to go to? (In terms of the food quality and how many people are there)

Thanks :)

I have a breakfast Adr for September because the food at Lunch or dinner might be a little too different for me. My DD 6 loves the princesses though so I haven't decided for sure which meal. Have a look at Mr. Disney's post and see what you think. We went for breakfast in 2003 and it was good food but alot of people and little girls in costumes. The princesses spent a couple minutes with each table.

I'm curious too as we're going for dinner in August. Even though ds4 says... "YUK! PRINCESSES!!! I don't like princesses!!" Too bad for him, I'm finally doing a princess meal. ;)

We're doing an early lunch here, then a late dinner at Le Cellier. If the food isn't good, at least LeC will make up for it. AND, we're on the free dining plan, so we're doing Akershus for free, meaning DD3 gets to see a bunch of princesses at one time and we won't have to stand in line.

I'm doing lunch because it's a solo meal that I'm paying for OOP and I decided I'd rather pay to eat at Disney then pay to eat at the airport.

Thanks for the help so far! For those who've dined there before, what different things are on the menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

I've personally never ate there, but I'd take the lesser risk and do the breakfast. I've heard not so good reviews for the lunch and dinner there. Check out the menu at www.allearsnet.com

I'm curious about this place too. I'd like to know what princesses were there when any of you went??

I took my 2.5yr old in February for lunch. I wasn't sure what to expect. I made the reservation there so that she could eat with the princesses. But as it turned out I really enjoyed most of the food. There were some things on the cold buffet that looked rather questionable but I decided to try them anyway (a pinkish creamy thing, for example) and really liked it. The pink creamy thing was a shrimp salad type of dish and was really good. I also liked their egg and ham salad. My advice is to try some of the stuff...even if you think you won't like it (no one will make you eat it all if you don't like the first bite).

Here's the direct link to the Akershus menu options from allearsnet. I had the soup and sandwich and both were really pretty good (I was just too full from the buffet to eat much of it). And the desserts were GREAT! It was neat to sample all of them on the plate that they bring.

The princesses we had were Ariel (in a ball gown and greet her before seated), Belle (in day dress), Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Jasmine. We didn't have SnowWhite or Cinderella. They were great at interacting with the tables except that my daughter didn't want them to come too close to our table.

To sum up, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the meal and plan on taking DH and the girls there again in November.

Here are some pictures of our experience:

And here's DD enjoying the dessert!

I just did a review so you could search for the thread. It was dh and myself. The 3 teen ds wouldnt be caught in there and they hate norwegian food, which dh and I love. We chose dinner and all I can say is I am glad we had the 20% dde discount. If you are on the dining plan I would choose lunch. In August it is just so hot. You would waste valuable park time in the coolest part of the day eating breakfast. If you go at lunch and are paying out of pocket its cheaper and you could get a nice air conditioned break and enjoy your lunch etc. After that you could take a park break or keep on going. I also dont prefer having a heavy dinner in the summer and as you can see from Mr. Disneys pictures they have lots of salads. I didnt care for the pasta salad but I like the beet salad and tomatoes and cucumbers etc. More of summer fare etc. You didnt mention how many will be in your party but it is pretty popular so you might want to make an adr asap. Good luck.

It'll just be me and my boyfriend.

Thanks! I'm still in between breakfast and lunch on this one.

Don't be too sure. When I had dinner there last month (solo), people had to stand in line to get pictures taken with Ariel. I passed thinking I'd get to see her at dinner anyway. Wrong!
