I have plenty of time to plan ;) but wanted to know more about Akershus. Any pics of the "taste of norway" buffet? What exactly is on it? It says seafood is included on but I wasn't sure what....

I don't know if I would rather do a breakfast or lunch. Breakfast sounds like the standard breakfast buffet food, is there anything that makes it interesting / Norwegian?

It says the princesses rotate, about how many are there each time? Any that are almost always there?

thanks for any info!!!

We ate dinner there June 2011. I've read on here the princesses rotate some. I believe Belle is always there, though. You meet her before you're seated. A photo pkg with her comes with the meal. We also met Snow White, Cinderella, Snow White & Ariel. There is a parade for the kids to walk thru the restaurant with the princesses. Interaction was ok. Better than we've had at some character meals. The food...not our favorite. The "salad bar" was good. We filled up more on that than our meal. It was basic salad & cheeses. Sorry I don't have any pictures but I bet if you do a search on here you'll come up with more info &/or pictures. I'm glad we did it for the experience & the photo ops, but wouldn't do it again, at least not dinner. You could do breakfast before the park opens. That might give you more familiar foods & the chance to get in before the park gets too crazy.

I've done both breakfast and dinner. Both meals will offer a mix of norwegian fare, with plenty of more familiar american items. The breakfast platter that comes to you table will be your typical eggs, potatoes, breakfast meat stuff, but the koldtbord- their buffet- will have some less-familiar norwegian offerings (along with fruit, muffins, bagels, etc.). Same thing for dinner- the entree selections include a mix of things, some will be more familiar to you than others, and then the koldtbord will have a mix of american and norwegian items.

Belle is always your greeter, and you'll get a pic with her. I met Snow White, Cinderella, Jasmine, Ariel, and Aurora when I was there for dinner, and for breakfast, the same princesses minus Cinderella. I've heard they mix it up a lot, and I've also read on this forum that Cinderella is only there once in a while (busy woman...)... :)

The interaction with the princesses was good- some better than others, but each spent a decent amount of time at our table, talking and posing for pics. The previous poster mentioned a parade through the restaurant- this didn't happen during either of my visits. Maybe they only do it sometimes?

I liked the food at both meals, but the best part, by far, for me was getting an early ADR before the park opened. The walk- all the way through Future World and into the World Showcase- through a completely empty Epcot was amazing. :cloud9:

I agree with this completely. The little music parade did go through when we were there.

Thank you for the replies!

We did the early ADR thing at AK for TH and loved the whole empty park experience, so maybe we will do a breakfast. Not to mention the kids are still clean for all the pics ;)

We like being a bit adventurous for food so I like knowing there is always a chance to try something fun on the koltbord.

We've never had breakfast there, so I can't give you input on that. We have eaten dinner there three times and have loved our experience each time. The salad bar offered shrimp, thinly sliced meats, salad, chicken salad & other assorted "salads", assorted cheeses, fruit, bread. The meals you could choose from can be seen on the menu selections on allears.net. My husband and I have always enjoyed our meals. We've chosen pork and chicken dishes. The dessert was served family style with a trio of Norwegian specialty desserts. I hated all three, but my family enjoyed them. Our meal was tasty and the salad bar was a nice refreshing option. The princesses we've seen include: Cinderella, Belle at the front, Ariel, Aurora, Snow White, and Jasmine. Our last time wasn't the best character interaction because they seemed a bit rushed, but it was still a good experience. My girls didn't notice that the princesses seem a tad bit rushed. It's a must do reservations for us!

We had breakfast at Akershus and thought it was okay - we didn't think there was anything special about the food. There was a small "cold" buffet with yogurts, muffins, granola, bagel and lox, etc. and then they served us the platter which was alright. I am pretty sure we requested pancakes for our daughter here as there was not much on the platter she eats and got it no problem.

The Princess interaction was good though... we loved being able to see so many in one spot! It wasn't very personal as it was packed, but we'd likely return again.

To sum it up - it was decent, not great, but decent.

We've eaten dinner there and were met by Belle. Then Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, and Aurora came to our table. We had an 8 pm reservation so the place had slowed down a bit and we had plenty of photos and interaction with my DD2 who was dressed like Cinderella.

We almost missed the parade, as we were leaving and had signed our check when it was announced. She joined and and got spooked b/c she had to walk away from me, and Snow White took her by the hand and led her through the restaurant. It was a trip high point for sure.

The food was good, but I am not an adventurous eater. I stuck to the beef and potatos meal and didn't try any of the Norwegian food on the buffet. It was weird cheeses and fish. There were American cold cuts and cheese too and some green salad which was fine.

Next time we will eat breakfast there too b/c it is such a neat place to eat.
