So i was able to get a 8:30 PPO ADR at Akershus and had a couple of questions. Do i have to wait until 8:30 to go to the ADR or is it like Be Our Guest where you can still show up? if that is the case and i can go at 8 is there enough time to have breakfast before the park opens to hop on FEA at park opening?

Since you won't be waiting for someone ahead of you to finish before you can be seated, I have to imagine they will seat you in the order in which you arrive at the podium. I can't see them having you wait while they see if the 8:20 people show up.

I would get to the front gates by 7:30 and hope for the best!

In 2014 we had an 8:20am ADR at Akershus. We were the second party to arrive at the restaurant at 8am and we checked in, and we were one of the first to be seated right at opening. We have an 8:10am ADR in September, and we plan on riding FEA as soon as we are finished. We plan to arrive at Int'l Gateway early, to get there right when they open.

Yeah, most places if you get there early and are one of the first to check in, you are usually seated in the order you arrived. I am also interested to see how it works out with riding FEA right afterwards. I hope there is not a crazy line when we are done eating at 9am. I do not want to use a tier 1 FP for it lol I am sticking with Soarin or Test Track for that one. But I can't see it being a crazy long line right at opening for FEA.

how long does it take to eat? and i can see there being a mad rush to frozen at rope drop like there is for SMT, except the ride capacity is very little

I'm jealous you got a PPO! Our window opened this morning and we couldn't get any! We did get CRT for dinner, though, so I guess I shouldn't complain - have a great time! :goodvibes

Is it much faster to get to Akershus via the international gateway entrance?

I think so, since it is right in World Showcase. We'll walk to the left, through UK, Canada and Mexico. We are only taking that way because we're staying at Beach Club and it is only a 5 minute walk to Int'l Gateway. If we had to take a bus from another resort, we'd just enter through the main entrance like we've done before.

Not much faster.

In the same boat for the beginning of November. Hopefully things level off enough that we can do it without a FP, but I'm really considering trying to get one, then take a few hours on arrival or departure day to do Soarin.

What about the waits for the Elsa/Anna meet and greet? I was considering a PPO Akershus to beat the rush for the meet and greet and then FP-ing the FEA ride? Bad strategy???? In early Dec.

After seeing the ride, we now want to get FP's for it too lol. We will be in Epcot quite a few times this trip, so we figured we can try for them on the morning we go to Akershus for breakfast. If we are finished breakfast and the stand-by is not long, then we'll hop in line for it and ride again with the FP. We have other days/nights at Epcot, so we will ride Soarin and Test Track.

So far, the waits for the M&G have been relatively short. I would not worry about beating the rush for that. From what I've read, there are 3 rooms of sisters in the Sommerhaus, which really helps keep the lines from getting crazy.

FEA has had the crazy wait times lately, up to 5 hours at one point. I'm going in December too and it'll probably be easier to just see around FP booking time how many lines they have open for A&E and how big the waits are around then before deciding which one to go to right after the ADR.

If you do an Akershus PPO for FEA... Be sure to ask your server to close out your tab early on). If you wait til you are done eating you will be competing with the rest of your servers tables to get your check processed. I had an 8:00a reservation yesterday but security held everyone up until about 8:05a and I finally arrived at our table about 8:20. Ate quickly, let daughter get two princess autographs and then we booked it to the FEA stand by line at 8:45. Probably 14/15th in line. Well worth it.

We have the same plan for Aug 2! But, and not to hijack, but to seek clarification:

1--I thought I read on here they would only let you go to the left at International Gateway for PPO, so Main Gate would be faster to Akershus. Yes?
2--I also thought I read on here that even if the park gates DO open at 8:45ish, they rope off the World Showcase until 9?

If anyone has any insight into those 2 things, I'd love to know. :D

1- Going left (clockwise) from the International Gateway IS the fastest route to Norway from the International Gateway.
(Counter clockwise, even if it was allowed, would be a farther route.)
The distance to Norway from the Epcot buses, monorail and parking lot and thru the front gates is a bit farther walk than from the International Gateway, but walking speed can be a big factor in
the equation.

2- Likely. Even if that was the case on X date(s,) that can change all the time.
Of course, guests with PPO restaurant reservations can pass straight thru to Norway.

A note to purists...
Guests are allowed to "go right" from the International Gateway in the mornings to reach the bakery in France, which is open for CS breakfast.
Guests from the front gates also can walk there.
But, access to the rest of World Showcase (past France) is not allowed until about 11am.
