We would like to try something different this trip and can't decide between the two. We also have a slightly picky ds6. Any advise??

We have eaten at both and love both. I know the restaurant in Norway has a kids' menu and I'm pretty sure Morocco does also. My DD loves to go to Morocco to see the belly dancers. She has even danced with them. They put on a great show. Why not try both??:D

We have been to both and would go to Marrakesh again- the belly dancer was fantastic and the food was very good:earsboy: :earsgirl:

Personally I would not recommend Marrakesh. I just posted food reviews that comments on this. However, I have to concede that sometimes a restaurant just has a bad night and a lot of people love this place.

I have been to both and that is a tough question as they are such different menues and foods. Akershus would be less expensive and allow you to try all sorts of different items and go back for the ones you like since it is a buffet. Marrakesh is a full menue and has some really great stuff and is rich and filling. The interior is like a palace and very pretty. Akershus is like a rustic castle inside.

Marrakesh for certain. We had a great meal there, and the lunch prices are very reasonable for WDW.
Akershus on the other hand was a huge let down. My family will eat just about anything, usually the more exotic/ethnic the better. No of us like Akershus. DS even got a kids meal, which is very unusual for him. While he did like his kids meal, it was nt a typical kids meal. The chicken tenders are not fried, they are highly seasoned and baked. The Potatoes were boiled red skinned potatoes, with the skins on. He actually ended up sharing with us since the buffet was so terrible. Really, now that I look back on it we should have asked to not be charged for the buffet. We barely ate a bite.

I would go for the menu that appeals the most to you. DH and I both consider Akershus our favorite WDW restaurant but of course this is totally subjective. We have never tried Marrakesh, we just never get around to it.

reporting that Akershus was switching from a buffet menu to a regular menu on Feb 17th. I'm waiting for a post to verify that. My DW and I have never eaten at Marrakesh but we do enjoy the lunch buffet at Akershus and are planning on eating there again next week. However, if they switch the "hot" portions of the buffet to "order from the menu" types of fare, leaving the "cold" portion of the buffet as a salad bar, as rumored, we may consider something else. We also enjoy San Angel Inn (Mexico) quite a bit: the food is good, reasonably priced and the atmosphere is nice. Have a nice trip!

Another vote for Marrakesh...Dancer welcomes audience members to dance which is fun to do and hilarious to watch. Food is wonderful, especially the chicken pastile appetizer. Atmosphere is exotic and beautiful. Obviously best when not over-crowded, try for off hours seatings.
We did not especially like Akershus. I know it is many people's favorite but we found the food unpleasant and the atmosphere gloomy.
