I have never been to WDW...we are going with our two daughters ages 4 & 6....what princess dining restaurant would you choose out of these two? Thanks!

If it came down to just food, IMO, Akershus is better at each meal. Also, if you were on a tight budget I would suggest Akershus just to save a few bucks.

However, since it is your first time and I assume your daughters first times, I would go with CRT, purely out of the experience of eating in the castle. It's one of those things that I think all Disney lovers should try to do at least once.

We have done both and will be doing both again this trip with our 6 and 9 year old dd's. If you have never been to the castle, I recommend this. There is nothing else like eating in the castle. My girls love it and have requested it. Now, if you're looking for a better experience with character interaction, Akershus wins hands down.

Dining at the castle is really special. We like the food better there as well and the kids got souveniors- swords/wands plus pictures.

I agree with the previous posters. Akershus is the better meal, feels more relaxed and the princesses seem to spend more time with each child.

CRT is an experience for your daughters. My daughter was so excited the first time she got to eat in Cinderella's castle.

We've done CRT 4 times in the last 2 years and Akershus 6 times in the last two years. We can't get enough princesses in our family.

We have done the castle and will be doing Akershus for Easter dinner :yay: Thanks for all the positive reviews :dance3:

Of all the years going I have yet to try CRT. Since I might have a "friend" coming along i'm leaning on it. If I reserve (prepaid of course), do you still have to pay a park ticket(s) to go there or walk through with a reservation via will call?

Yes, you have to have a park ticket to be enter and go to the restaurant.

To the OP, I would choose Akershus. We've been to CRT twice and Akershus three times. Every time my girls preferred Akershus for some reason. DH and I thought the food was better, and it's nice that it's only 1 TS credit vs. 2 that CRT is. Yes, you will have many say that dining in the castle was worth the experience alone. For us, however, it was really overrated. There is still a castle feel at Akershus as well. Since my kids prefer it, we like the food better, and it's less expensive, we choose it over CRT.

To me, I think it comes down to if the experience of dining in the castle will be wonderful to you. Many, if not most, will say it is magical. I surprised myself and was underwhelmed, and I'm the type of person that gets teary eyed over everything at WDW and thinks most things are magical. I just thought it was way too hyped up once I experienced it. Don't get me wrong, it was a good experience. It just wasn't all I thought it was hyped up to be and certainly not worth 2 TS credits. You could fall on either side of the fence. I would try it at least once, unless you're not really sold on the idea anyway, to see if you're in the "love it" camp or the "did it once, that was enough for me" camp.

I completely agree with this and was going to say the exact same thing. We like Akershus breakfast over CRT more, however since this is your first time and your girl's first time as well, then I would definitely say go with CRT. We are actually doing both on our upcoming trip. Akershus is a must do so we are having breakfast there and then we found last September that the dinner at CRT was really good, so we are going back there as well. Have a wonderful trip and take lots and lots of awesome pictures :goodvibes

i've never been to akershus but LOVE the castle. there is just something so special about it that no other location can make up with.

We did both & enjoyed both. I would do CRT if I were only doing one, if only for the experience.

CRT is an experience for your daughters.

This is dead on accurate - the castle experience imo is not worth losing the benefits of Ak

I think I am in the majority in saying that the only thing CRT has going for it over Akershus is the Castle location. Yeah, they get a wand or a sword at CRT, but those things can get unwieldy. There is also the photo-op with Cinderella, which is a nice thing, but chances are good that you can get a picture with Cinderella elsewhere, including Akershus. I think that the food is a lot better at Akershus (for breakfast, at least), and less expensive. I also think that the Castle dining room can get a little cluttered with Princesses; Akershus has more walls to break up the sightlines.

I don't know if we'll be going back to CRT. Going once was good for the experience, but I am having difficulty justifying going back, even with two daughters.

Don't forget that at Akershus, there's a picture with Belle as opposed to Cinderella.

see, I haven't been to Akershus but I honestly don't know why people keep saying that the food at CRT is 'bad'. The best meal I have had so far in WDW was the breakfast at CRT. :confused3

It's our 5th time going in October and we have never been to CRT. I was going to book it last time for lunch but they told me the Princesses are only out for dinner. They told me only the Fair Godmother and Stepsisters were out at lunch. That was a deal breaker right there. Askershus is awesome. You can click my trip report in my signature to see my pictures. We had Ariel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, and Snow White. Also Mulan was coming out as we were leaving. We are going in October during the MNSSHP and I am not sure if they offer dinner on party nights. But I get to book my ADR's tonight so I will find out!

The princesses are now at every meal.
