For all our WDW trips we go to Akershus for breakfast....we love the characters and the food (especially the pastries, cheese and fruit at the buffet). But this time I decided to book a lunch :scared1:
I am soooo second guessing myself.
Can someone please tell me how their lunch is? What is good? Bad?

We've had dinner there twice and really enjoyed the food and the character interaction. My guess is that the cold buffet is the same at lunch and dinner... warm crusty rolls, green salad, potato salad, chicken salad, a very good shrimp salad, cheeses and salami, poached salmon with a lemon aioli, smoked salmon, smoked trout, with a couple of regional specialties (a caramel colored goat cheese, some herring, beet and apple salad) available as well.

The fish entrees at dinner were delicious - we had both the Mahi Mahi and the salmon - as was the vegetarian pasta dish. Mixed reviews on the dumpling/meatball dish. Wouldn't have been my choice and the person in our party who ordered it didn't love it.

Just took a peek at the lunch menu...I'd go with the salmon sandwich or the mushroom stuffed pasta. The pasta is the same as that on the dinner menu and it is quite good.

Also, I believe this is technically an "all you care to enjoy" meal... though they don't tell you this. If you order something and don't care for it, ask for something else instead. And they will fix something special for a picky eater if you ask.

I'll be keeping up with this thread :) I am planning on doing a lunch at the Akershus in September. this will be our first visit to this restaurant.

Anyone know what time the lunch generally starts at?

We were there last April and had one Lunch and one Breakfast. I preferred the lunch by far. We had the last breakfast sitting, and that allowed us to have some extra "princess" time. That made up for the food!

we did akershus for lunch this past september and found the food to be very good! I especially liked the cold buffet--it was a nice change from so much of the heavy greasy food offered in the park. The service was excellent, belle was beautiful and the character interaction was good. In my limited experience, and I know others will disagree, I found the character interaction to be pretty consistent at all the character meals we went to: tusker house, akershus, chef mickey's, crt. They meet briefly with each table, take pix and move on. It was enough for my dd.

The only exception was belle at akershus who took a particular shine to my dd. We were slow with eating and as a result the last ones to leave. Belle had returned and while waiting for the next round of diners spent about 5-10 mins talking to my dd and dancing with her, etc. My dd was thrilled (Belle is her favorite) but if not for that, it would have been pretty typical I think.

My girlfriend and I did Akershus for lunch this past May and enjoyed it. The cold buffet was a nice spread but we for the most part stuck with the fresh fruit and cheeses (I did sample some other things which were good). I had the salmon burger which was good and my girlfriend had the mushroom stuffed pasta which she liked. The desserts were very good as well (served family style).
