Akershus for sure Ariel?

Wondering are the princesses guaranteed? It sounds like they rotate but if we got unless the CM is sick is Ariel for sure there?

Thinking about taking the plunge for a single character meal on our next trip.

They definitely rotate. I don’t think any of them are guaranteed except maybe Belle in the yellow dress. We were there the last week of March and we had Belle, Mulan, Tiana, Snow White and Ariel. I was panicked at first because my daughter had just been to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and was dressed up like Snow White and she wasn’t announced until the fourth one so I was so worried she might have had the night off. She was there thank goodness and it was awesome to meet the ones we weren’t expecting to see.

This is true of any Character meal - not just those with face characters. If there are no friends of a character available, that character will be replaced with another. So characters are never 100% guaranteed.

Years ago I went to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and I think it was Pooh and Eeyore who were supposed to be there. Well, something happened and there were no friends of Eeyore available so we had Tigger instead (it's possible it was supposed to be Tigger and Eeyore but Pooh came instead...I can't remember because it's been a while - like 20 years). A kid at a table near mine asked Alice where Eeyore was and she handled it like a pro and said "Oh, poor Eeyore was feeling poorly today so his friend Tigger said he would come instead." (obvs if Pooh was the replacement she said 'his friend Pooh').

Right. If there are no friends of anyone available there won't be a replacement.

I'd imagine that Topolino's, because of the specific art school themeing of the costumes, likely wouldn't replace a character with another. (Ditto any with a specific theme - like Tusker House, Chef Mickey's, Cape May, Garden Grill, or the one in Studios. Probably 'Ohana as well. Unless there's another character with a costume that could fit into that theme they likely won't replace them. 1900 Park Fare could pretty much do any British character available.)

When we were the in December we saw Ariel, Jasmine, Aurora, Belle and Mulan. They rotate often so no princess is guaranteed.

They are not guaranteed. If someone in your group has to meet Ariel, I suggest getting Genie+ for your Magic Kingdom day and reserving Ariel's Grotto first thing in the morning. Casting would prioritize this location over Akershus.
