I'm planning to do Akershus for breakfast on one of our Epcot days. I would like to do it before the park opens so that we don't miss any touring time. Right now I believe the park opens at 9 am - but if they change the opening to 8 am or have EMH then we'll be stuck eating while the park is open. Is that just the chance I have to take?

FWIW, my trip isn't until next Jan.

The problem with taking the first reservation is that you will be a little bit far from the part that opens at either 9 or 8 am as you stated. The "World" doesn't open until later in the morning ( 10 or 11 can't remember). I would say it will take you at least 1 hour for your meal if you want to see all the princesses and then you will have to walk back to get to the open attractions which depending on the age of your kids could take at least 15 minutes. That's one of the reasons we take a early lunch or very late breakfast. By the time it's our ADR time, we are usually closer to Norway. Less park time wasted going from a to b and all the attractions like soarin and test track are already done when it was more quiet.

We've never had to walk back to the front of the park. We usually start at 8 and let our waiter/waitress know that we are trying to get out by 9. About 8:30 I start asking for our check to make sure we are out in time. We go straight from there to Test track, then accross to get soarin FP. Once there was someone with a rope that led us to test track from the edge of the worlds.

It is true that you don't know for sure if there will be EMH. You will know in enough time to cancel, but not in enough time to be sure you can rebook a before the park opens breakfast. They don't have reservations before 8. Fingers crossed for you. pixiedust:

We didn't have a problem getting out of there before opening!

Our ADR was for 8:15, but I believe we were seated a few minutes early. We went immediately to the cold buffet and received our beverages shortly. I asked for the check when they brought the plate of hot food (about ten minutes later). We saw all four princesses, got our pictures of Belle, ate, paid, and were on our way by 8:50. We in no way felt rushed.

We were in the Land Pavilion before the crowds and two of the first people on Soarin'! :thumbsup2

Keep an eye on the calendars as you get closer, but unless you pick a usual Epocot EMH day (usually Tuesday) you shouldn't have a problem. They tend to increase hours only during busy times and January tends to be a low-crowd season.

Have fun! It's a great breakfast!
