We have an ADR for dinner at Akershaus, DD3 is a Princess nut so I know she will be happy even if she doesn't eat a single thing. DH, DD12 and I just want to know about the food there. Breakfast and Lunch looked so basic for a TS meal and while it's not signature we wanted a little something different and more "upscale" for us to enjoy while DD3 is taking in all the princess merriment.

Any reviews on this would be greatly appreciate-- good and bad

The mushroom ravioli dish there was one of my favorite things from my last trip to Disney. I've also had the Kofte and they were okay, but basically giant meatballs with potatoes. I would not get those again. I also like the selections at the appetizer buffet and the rice cream dessert is excellent.

While you asked about dinner, my fiance and I had lunch there a couple of trips ago and really enjoyed it. She had the mushroom ravioli type dish that the PP mentioned and liked it, I had a salmon burger which was pretty good. You can easily fill up on the appitizer bar with the cheeses, meats, salads, etc. The dessert platter has some pretty tastey desserts (like the rice cream the PP also mentioned). The meal also includes a photo package and the character interaction with the princesses was great (better than our CRT experience, IMO).

Enjoy!

Touringplans.com just did a review of this dinner on their blog. We are trying it for the first time in Dec.

We did dinner on our June 2011 trip. DD 7 claimed to be past the princess phase, but she sure seemed to enjoy it! She met Belle & got her picture taken as we came in. Also met Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel & Sleeping Beauty. There is a parade for the kids & that was cute. As for the food...don't remember what any of us ordered but it wasn't our favorite. The "salad bar" is more than just salad and it was quite good. In fact, we ended up kind of filling up on that. We weren't as impressed with our dinner entrees. They had a different seasoning to them. The dessert comes all on one plate to share. Again, not everyone's favorite. I had heard so much about the rice cream I was looking forward to that. All that being said, I'm glad we did it. We have some great pictures with all of the princesses. It's one to do at least once! princess:

We ate there last August. My dd (12) is past the princess stage and my ds (7) would really like to dine with the Toy Story Characters, but that's not an option. So I booked this for my dh bday dinner. I have to say, that days before the trip I tried to change my reservation because I was nervous about the reviews. There was nothing else available, so I decided to try it anyway. Well, I have to say, we really enjoyed the meal. I had the salmon and my dd ordered the mushroom ravioli. Both were very good. The salmon was delicious, my dd liked it so much, we wound up swapping meals. The mushroom ravioli was also very good. I don't remember what my dh had, but I know he liked it. We also enjoyed the appetizer bar. The desserts were just so-so. The princesses all came around and spent enough time to get great pictures. Even though my daughter is older and my son, not really interested in princesses, they still wanted to take pictures. The interaction with them was quick; but, I watched the interaction the princesses had with the smaller ones at other tables, and it was pure magic for the little ones. Just as Snow White approached our table, the waitress brought our desserts with a special birthday dessert for hubby. Snow White immediately started singing "Happy Birthday". It was a very special moment; one that we still talk about. We're planning another trip for next summer, and it's on my dd and dh's must list. Hope you enjoy it!

We had dinner I had the pork tenderloin there and it was honestly one of the best meals I had on our trip last year. My wife had the beef and it was horrible and the kids pasta lacked flavor but the desserts were good. The good part is that you can order as much as you want, so if you get something you don't like choose something else.
The cold bar was pretty good and the character interaction was good.Over all a great dining experience for the whole family.

We went in January 2011 and the food wasn't the best for dinner, but as others have mentioned, you can fill up on the salad bar if the entrees don't look appealing. DH ordered the salmon I believe and he said it was fine. I ordered the beef and it wasn't the best. I wish I would have ordered the mushroom ravioli. Desserts were fine, but the experience for my DD (2.5 at the time) was priceless! Glad we made the reservation and would do it again if we weren't trying out CRT on our upcoming trip.

This place used to be awful. Disney listened and fixed it because the food is much better than it used to be. I actually think the food is really good vs most of the buffets everywhere else. This is the best place for seeing the princesses. Just be prepared to wait in a mass of people outside even with reservations. Make sure you arrive a little before you ressie.

Thanks for the tip! We are taking DD3 so if our food is so/so her experience with the Princesses will make it all worth-while I am sure

A+ on character interaction - not nearly as crowded or rushed at CRT

C on food - app bar is decent as was mentioned by pp and yes you could just make a meal off of it. I don't remember what the rest of the family had, but everyone thought it was "not great". I had a pork chop dinner and had the same opinion.

This said, I'd recommend it to a family with daughters

We went in August of this year, and it got mixed reviews from our family. The kids and I enjoyed most of the cold buffet, but DH did not. All three of our kids had the ravioli and there was nothing left on their plate. I had the mushroom ravioli and it was wonderful! DH had the pork dish and it was so overcooked that he could barely saw through it. I took a bite and it was incredibly dry and tastless. The table next to us had the salmon, and it looked wonderful. Desserts were a toss up. We all loved the chocolate mousse type dessert, the berries and pastry dessert was ok, and the rice cream didn't go over well because most of the rice in our portion wasn't cooked. The princess interaction was wonderful though, and our DD3 and DD1 both loved it. DS8 even enjoyed it! I'd say stay away from the meatball dish and the pork and you will be good to go!

we are going in january...last year i had booked this but ended up canceling because my DD who was not yet 3 at the time was NOT impressed with the characters at 1900 park ---She LOVED the stuffed characters but the face characters she could have cared less about LOL ---with that being said i went ahead and booked it again this trip because DD loves every single princess (even though she did last year too) but i would love to see her yell CINDERELLA!!! So here is to hoping! lol
