AK Touring Plan Question

If we are near the front of rope drop on a CL 3 recommended park day:

Head to Safari first, can we make it to the 10 AM Lion King show? Touring Plans is saying no and saying that we will have a 38 minute wait. Would it be more doable if we had a 9AM fastpass?

We have a 4 & 7 year old who are not interested in Kali River Rapids, so I'm not so worried about "wasting" fastpasses. More concerned about not having to do a lot of backtracking back and forth across the park.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What time does the park open that day? I actually think you're fine for a 10am LK show, however.

It's a 9AM opening now. They just changed the EMH (which we were planning on), so my touring plan is all messed up now! :)

I think that you should be able to make it as long as you're not at the back of the rope drop crowd.

The safari will only take 25 minutes or so. If you go there at RD, you should be on the ride at 9:15, off by 9:45. That gives you 15 minutes to walk over the to the show nearby.
If you wind up behind a big crowd somehow and it takes longer and you miss it, walk through Pangani - then head to the theater and get a good spot for the next show. We lined up early as stand by and we wound up in the front of giraffe section and my daughter was picked for this:

So, do you think I should use a fastpass to make it easier? In case we get stuck behind a big crowd? Or manuevering the stroller takes longer than I think? Otherwise, the fastpass would go for the 12noon show of Finding Nemo (which I think if we show up 15 minutes early we should be fine without).
It just seems dumb to use a fastpass at rope drop. I mean, why go to the trouble of getting there at 8:15-8:30 if you're just going to use a fastpass right away anyway? Maybe I should just rethink the whole plan and start at Everest instead. I don't know!

You're overthinking it. If you get to the park at 8:15 and head straight to the safari, you shouldn't have any problem making the 10 am FotLK show. there is always a chance that something out of the ordinary can happen, but I gave you a great back up plan if it does. I would keep it just the way it is.

You are definitely right that I am overthinking! Disney planning is turning me into a crazy person. :scared: Thanks for the reassurance everyone. I kind of freaked out when TP told me the wait would be 38 minutes at 9AM.

38 minutes is absurd! Maybe they're still thinking its a morning EMH? I just checked the wait times on the MDE app and right now, at 11:35 am the wait time is listed as 20 minutes....

As other posters have said, as long as you're close to the front of the RD crowd, I think you will be just fine. Unless a rhino or a giraffe gets in your safari vehicle's way and you have to wait for them to move. :teeth: Just kidding....

I'm finding that touring plans definitely overestimates rope drop wait times. My AK plan has me riding EE only once with a 40+ minute wait, but I made a note that says "ride twice and still be done before this plan thinks you will be on the ride once". :)
