AK to Whispering Canyon?

How do we get from AK to Whispering Canyon I'm thinking of making an early res for SuperBowl Sunday and going from AK - I don't think we will need an entire day at AK right? (This is our first trip) I thought we could do this restuarant after AK b/c I've read we don't need an entire day, would that be a good plan - any recommendations are welcome! Unfortuantely the DH & boys 4 & 7 really want to watch the game if our team is in... a bit early I know, but just in case I want to have an early dinner res, and then go to ESPN to watch the game. Or is there another park that would be better suited to go to Whispering Canyon and do on another night - like MK and then go back to watch Wishes, I thought that would be too much tho? Planning these reservations are tough! Thanks in advance

To get to Whispering Canyon from AK is easy. Just hop the bus to the Wilderness Lodge. After your meal (if you can hop), it's easiest to take the bus to Epcot and walk or boat from Epcot world showcase to ESPN.

You won't need a full day at AK, in fact, it closes before all of the other parks, so you couldn't really if you wanted to. Check the hours. Sometimes it closes for the evening as early as 5pm. Then again, if your weather happens to be hot, and you want to see the animals, they start moving the most in the late afternoon. You shouldn't have that problem, since you're going in winter, though.

Whispering Canyon is a short boat ride from the front of the MK. It is very convenient to go to and from MK. AK would be a bus ride. Becareful as to what time you make the reservation. We did my DD2 second birthday at a 2:45 lunch seating and didn't see any of what we have now learned goes on at Whispering Canyon. We were there based on the menu which worked out perfectly for us as ribs and cornbread is the only meal that all 5 of us will eat. Have a good trip and good luck to your team.

I just called and made a res - I need to get some on the books. We will go to AK first thing to see the Safari etc. I made the res for 5p - figuring we will have to leave AK by 4p to get there in time - we could even drive b/c we won't want to come back to AK - would driving to Wilderness Lodge be a pain? And how about parking for Disney Boardwalk - I think that is where ESPN Zone is right? Do you think Whispering is a good choice? I've been all over this board for the last few days and have made no reservations b/c I really can't decide! I suppose we could have done something in AK Lodge instead... but I heard that Whispering would be fun and I don't want to do Hoop-de-doo so I thought this would be our one 'fun' dinner - my littlest one always asks for ketchup (that is the only trick I know that they do anyway...)
I'm such a Disney newbie!! Another question - we didn't make Fantasmic dinner package res - we are just going to go get in line for the late show 30 min prior do you think that is ok, or would you go w/the package? I don't want to eat as early as 4:30 b/c we are just arriving that day and going straight to MGM around 1p I wanted optimal park time...Thanks!

From what I have researched on the site, Whispering
Canyon Cafe (WCC) would be fun and also the food seems
to be good...

I just made WCC a choice in our 6 night dining plan...

As for Fantasmic, I decided to do Hollywood and Vine
on the reserved tickets. I got a dining time of 6:30pm
for the 8:30pm show which should line up real well
for us.

I had heard that you would HAVE to eat at 4:30pm, but
this was not the case for me on 4-14 (Friday) at least...
