AK Tips?

Do the restaurants/cafes open around 11:00 in OCT for lunch, or is it maybe 10:30?

Thanks in advance :)

BTW: AWESOME tips, y'all! I'll definitely have my three yr old on my lap for ITTBAB, plus we just might trip the Safari at the end of the day afterall!

OH! Could anyone tell me about the meerkats on the African trail--are they quite a ways down it, or can we reach them in maybe a couple of minutes? I'd hate to miss those critters when we go...gotta try to make time for 'em!

I think the meerkats are in the middle, but the gorillas are towards the end. It was also fun seeing the hippo.

One other tip for kids your age: Go to the Boneyard in Dinoland when you need a bit of a break. The kids can sit and dig bones and the adults can sit around the edge. My DS 4 would have stayed here digging all day! Also, all kids are different with ITTBAB. Much to our surprise, my unadventurous 4 year old loved it!

Thanks, K and K's Mommy--
definitely got the Boneyard on our Things To Do List :)

The Boneyard was my youngest DD's favorite attraction at WDW when she was 6. She would have loved to spend the entire day there :) There is also only one entrance / exit so older kids can have a little freedom and you can find a bench near the exit and take a break.

During our 2001 trip, in the African town area (Harambe?) there were really neat drums set up. Our kids enjoyed trying out the different shapes and sizes. I saw the drums while we were eating ice cream. Everyone walked right past them. When our little ones started drumming away it was like the Pied Piper. Kids came flocking over from all directions! The kids made their own fun and the grownups just stood back and smiled!

Can anyone tell me how much are the AK ponchos? I'd appreciate it :)

We're heading for AK the 2nd morning of our trip--if they're pretty inexpensive I just might pick up two adults and two kids ones----hmmm, I've got a three and five yr old--what sizes do y'all recommend?

Some great tips here. I so agree with the Festival of the Lion King. Another thing to consider: if you do Kali River Rapids, you might want to make it the last thing of the day so that if you get wet, you don't have to walk around soaking all day. As humid as it gets there, you won't dry quickly (if at all). For some reason, this park always seems hotter to us than others. We like to go very early in the morning so that we are ready to leave when the true heat of the day hits. Enjoy!!!

One more thing, while on the safari, keep an eye out for the new baby elephant. We were there yesterday and you really had to look for him, he was under his momma. I think most of the people on the truck missed him because they didn't even know about him.
