AK strategy help

We are going in early May. We have only been to WDW once before and it was in September with low crowds so I'm not sure what to expect.

We have late morning/early afternoon fast passes for FOP, Kali, and Safari. My kids are 6, 8, and 10 and not super thrill seekers and I think would like Navi. How has it been at Rope Drop? I kind of hate to get into the FOP rope drop mob, but I'm not sure when/how else to ride this.

Also, I would like to ride Everest and Dinosaur without them, lol (my husband will be with them). Will obtaining an individual FP as a 4th for one of these rides be a possibility?

I also have just realized that the new UP! bird show will be going on. I wonder if I should change one of my FP to that.

Early May is a good time to go - or as good as it gets now! There really is Not a slow time now.

Your FPs are fine - I doubt you will need one for UP.

Navi is a slow boat ride - kind of like It's a Small World. Your best bets for Non-FPs are rope drop or 15 minutes before closing. (The posted time at closing is typically about twice as long as the actual ride.) After having done it once, I would Not wait more than 15 minutes for it again! (But, younger kids may like it)

EE has a Single-rider line so even if you can't get a 4th FP for it, you can typically do it Single quickly - so use your 4th for a Dinosaur FP.

Everest and Dinosaur shouldn't be a problem getting as additional FP's (maybe a bit of refreshing to get a desired time). I did book an UP FP for May for one of our AK days only because it's a new FP and updated show so I wasn't sure how easy/difficult it would be to get. Typically shows don't really require a FP though.

Yeah, I don' typically do fp for shows but wondered if the newness would make it difficult..

I booked two half days at AK for our early May trip that way we got 6 FP+ selections. We have hoppers.

One day we are doing rope drop at Epcot with no FPs, lunch then heading to AK with FP for FOP, EE and ROL. We will get on what ever else we can that day. Then later in the trip we are doing an AK day with FP for Safari at 9am, then Navi River, EE and anything else we missed (Up show and Bug's Life) then heading back to the pool, HDDR dinner and late night at MK. We never do Kali (hate getting soaked), Dinosaur or Dino land now that our kids are young adults. We have never done Bug's Life though so that is on our list this time as is UP.
