AK plan, what do you think?

Would like feedback for this. We are planning a full day at AK this day (possibly open-close). First week of June. We have a noon reservation at Rainforest Cafe. Would like to minimize the walking while maximizing what we can do. So trying to fit as much as we can into 9-12 while making it back for our reservation. After lunch, we will explore more of the park.

I am thinking the best plan for us is to see Asia. We also want to do the Wilderness Explorers and it looks like Asia has 8 badges. So, here is what I'm thinking:
Go to Oasis and get Wilderness Explorer book
Head to Asia
Kali River Rapids
Flights of Wonder
Maharajah Jungle Trek (~20 min?)
8 badges for book (allowing ~40 min for this?)
Head back for lunch

*not necessarily in that order
We are not doing Expedition Everest.

We'll figure out FP+ later. Just want to figure the best part of the park to see first.

I am also concerned about getting soaked on Kali before our reservation. Thoughts on this?

As far as alternatives, we are not very interested in Dinoland so that will not fill up our time very well.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You might do better timewise to have lunch at Yak and Yeti instead. Otherwise you will be doing cross-park treks to and from lunch. Even Tusker House would be better, because then you'd be right in Africa after lunch.
Plan on getting wet, even soaked on Kali. You may not, but there's always a good chance. If it is a hot day though, you'll dry out soon if you stay in the sun.

Hi,
We have a similar plan... trying to do the Explorers thing since we have little kids. Here's our plan...

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3245707

What you have so far sounds reasonable to fit in by noon.

You doing 10:30 flights of wonder? All you have before that (9-10:30) is to pick up your book and do Kali. That's only about 30 min worth of stuff. Always nice to know you have extra time. You'll get in a couple of the adventures before your FOW.

Maharajah and badges, yes again your time sounds great. But then I agree w the other poster, switch to Y&Y. You're in Asia... so walking back to the entrance gate is a waste. Y&Y is at least as nice as the RFC. If you can't get an ADR, they do CS too.

Getting soaked on Kali... Having gotten rained on many times at WDW, wet doesn't bother us. It'll be hot and dry out in no time unless you're wearing jeans or something that retains water. Wear sandals so your shoes drain. If you're still concerned, you can always bring ponchos for Kali... :)

Rainforest Cafe is fixed. We have already decided that's where we want to eat. The rest of the park is variable, I just want to make a good plan that allows us to see some of the park, go to lunch , and then continue the park. The goal is just minimize the walking a bit. For example, I don't want to go all the way to Rafiki's Planet Watch (thinking that is the furthest walking point?) and then head all the way back to RFC and then go back into the park and walk all around again.

So, is Asia our best bet? Sounds like we should do Kali last and maybe put Asia off.

Or would we have time for Rafiki and Safari before noon? Then after RFC, stay near the front and do Discover, Oasis, and ?

Just not sure how to do this.

Well, there's basically 2 zones. (there's 3, but you said you're not interested in Dinoland).

You've got your Africa zone and your Asia zone.

Africa includes the Safari and the train to the Rafiki area.

Asia includes Kali, EE, Flights of Wonder

Both zones have plenty of Explorer tasks to fill in any unused time. (Africa has the Pangini trail with lots of Explorer stops, while Asia has the Maharajah Trek with lots of Explorer stops)

Rainforest Café is just outside the park... so putting that at noon means you're going to basically enter and exit the park twice. I would just break it into two halves. Do Asia or Africa in the morning, and the other in the afternoon. It works out about equal whichever one you want to do in whichever half.

Just make sure you get an afternoon FastPass for the section you'll be in after lunch. i.e. the Safari (Africa) or Kali and EE (Asia).

This basically sums it up for you. Allow a little time for the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch, everything else is walking to/from.

Not to confound things, but if you have extra time, I would allow for Finding Nemo, the Musical. It's down near Dinoland. It's one of my favorite shows, but I might be biased (says "nemodeb"). :rotfl: But don't worry about it if you don't have time. The PP plan sounds like a good one, just divide the day between the two lands.
