AK Parade @ 4:00 pm - Boma Dinner @ 5:00 pm

The "Jammin' Jungle Parade" is scheduled for 4:00 pm, and we've got a PS for dinner at Boma at 5:00 pm.

I was planning on our family watching the parade in the Animal Kingdom at 4:00 pm & then going over to Boma for dinner at 5:00 pm.

Is this doable?

Should I try to get a later PS?

(I was trying to make it early enough to, one, walk around the AKL &, two, make it back to FW early enough to swim, maybe.)

Would it better to take a bus from the AK to the AKL or drive (we'll have our mini-van)? Or can we walk?

We're staying at FW, so I thought it would be better to drive ourselves to the AK anyway - but, going back & forth from the AK to the AKL, drive or ride the bus?

I would say its cutting it close. I'd make the PS for 5:30 or 6:00 if you want to walk around the AKL. If you are driving to AK and going back to your resort afterwards I'd just drive to the AKL.

We thought about doing that very same thing. What changed our mind was after being in the park all day during the summer and being on wet and wild rides, you just don't look and smell your best.

Now if you are only planning on just going to see the parade, that is another issue. It depends on where you are seeing the parade and when the bus will be there to pick you up. Its a long way to the bus and parking lot.

You're cutting it very close. The parade is about 20 min long, so even if you're at the closest point to the exit as you can be when you watch the parade, you'll still have to get out of the park and to either bus parking or car parking (you won't be able to walk from DAK to AKL -- there are no sidewalks in the area, and the walk from the parking lot to the road would take up most of your time). It's only about ten min between the park and resort, so you'll make it if you either rush to your car or if the bus is waiting for you when you exit.

I'd change the PS at Boma to 5:30pm.

DD and I do this and we watch the parade by the entrance to Camp M&M. We did fine. The bus ride is short from AK to AKL. There's no time "to stop and smell the roses" on the way out though. 5:30 would give you more time and you could always check in early at Boma if you did make.

Yes I think this is cutting it close since the parade is what at least 20-30 min(?) and then you have to get out of the park, and into car or on bus! Then you need 15 min to AKL..so in total you need 30-40 min after parade for transportation etc. which will be stressful for you and family.

Here is what I would do -as someone mentioned it is going to be hot so everyone bring an extra shirt...make your PS for 5:30..arive @ AKL head to public bathrooms, clean up and change shirt...check out lobby and head down to Boma. You should be done no later than 7:30 and in florida it is bright until 8-8:30 so you can take a nice after dinner stroll around resort and savannah then!!!

I called & changed our PS to 5:30 pm.

After the parade is over, we'll still head right to AKL &, if we do somehow manage to get there earlier than our PS seating time, we'll just use the time to look around the grounds (which we had planned to do anyway) . . . while my dream resort is the Grand Floridian, DH's is the AKL.

Oh, and our plan for our AK day was to eat breakfast in our FW cabin, drive to AK to get there right at opening, "tour" AK, eat lunch at either Flame Tree (my preferred choice) or Restaurantsaurus (kids will like this better), & then head back to our cabin for short rest & change/refresh before driving back to AK for the parade & then to Boma for dinner. Now, whether it will happen like that or not . . . well, we'll see
