AK or visit resorts?

I am going crazy trying to decide. My DH will be at a convention type of thing on our first full day. Usually I take DS to visit resorts on the day that DH is busy and to DTD. This year I am considering taking DS to AK by myself for the day. We have dinner reservations at the GF at 6pm I think that night. We have breakfast reservations that morning too. We will do both of those all together. Then after breakfast split up and meet back up in time for dinner.

So AK is our least favorite park which is why I would consider doing it without DH. We only will have 3 more park days so we will do the other 3 parks all together. We are staying at the GF and have meals scheduled at all 3 monorail resorts. We have stayed at POR a couple of times and love it. But don't feel the need to visit it. The ones that we have never visited are all in the Boardwalk / Epcot area.

UGH! I am driving myself crazy. Would there be time to do both? Our favorite ride at AK is the safari and we love It's tough to be a bug. The parade is nice but I seriously doubt DS and I would be there for that long by ourselves.

Sorry for the book.:guilty: Just trying to see what other's do when they have a day with out their other spouse or travel partner?

Go to AK. Try a couple of attractions you've never tried before. You might end up surprised.

My family loves AK. It is never less than a day and a half for us, but there's very little my kids don't do there.

A day and half? Wow! You all really like it. Hmmm. Still trying to decide. Good thing is there is hardly any difference in the 3 day and 4 day ticket. So I won't feel like I am wasting money if we decide to not go to AK that day.

Have you visited Animal Kingdom Lodge and Kidani Village, these are beautiful resorts, there are also kids activities that involve animals, there are plenty of animal viewing areas and a small playground.

Not the Villas but we have visited the lodge. DS and I went and had breakfast there on one of the days that DH was at the convention. Really just a huge cinnamon roll and then went and sat on a balcony with rocking chairs and watched the animals and ate the roll. The only major problem was it ate up a huge part of our day to get there and back.

Go to AK! Don't miss "Festival of the Lion King!" I agree about Kilimanjaro Safaris being one of the best attractions -- a different ride every time.

"Finding Nemo" is good too, but FOTLK is the best show in WDW -- not just my opinion.

Depending on the age of your DS, Triceratops Spin is fun too -- Same as Dumbo but with a shorter wait. :rotfl:

I love the AK parade, but if you don't want to stay that long, there's still plenty you can do in 4-5 hours.

I would go to the Animal Kingdom. There is plenty to do in a few hours and I think most kids would find Animal Kingdom more exciting than visiting resorts.

All 3 shows are excellent! Just seeing FOTLK, Nemo, and Flights of Wonder would take most of 3 hours.

If it's a weekday morning, take the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch and see if anything interesting is going on at the vet hospital.

Walk the trails in Africa & Asia to see the gorillas, meerkats, giant bats, and tigers.

I don't think that we have ever walked the trails there. Maybe he will like that since it is our first day and not alot of walking yet.

I have learned to really appreciate AK. On our next trip my son and I will be alone the first day as well and we plan on AK. We can stroll around and just enjoy the atmosphere and animals, get a FP for Safari, I can have a yak attack and my son can spend an hour in the boneyard.

Yak attack? Never heard of that.

To quote allears "concoction of Mango Daiquiri, Bacardi Light Rum, and Wildberry Flavors". It is very yummy :) A friend introduced me to them on our last trip.

Absolutely do AK, and you MUST do the Lion King stage show. It is brilliant!! But save your time and give Nemo the Musical a miss. Easily the biggest flop at Disney World. An overrated debacle of sight and sound that should never have been foisted on the general public........... but it's only my opinion of course :-)))

It's good you put that disclaimer right at the end... there are lots of people (the vast majority, I'd guess) who think the Nemo show is good to brilliant. We've seen it twice and plan to watch it again when we return next year.

I know that we will not go to see Nemo. We did once when DS was 3. He was petrified of the sharks. Had to leave so everyone else could enjoy the show. After seeing parts of it I truly have no desire to go again. I would of liked to of seen it all that day but it didn't work out. But, I feel at this point that I don't want to sit through the whole thing again.

Lion King is a maybe if DS is interested.
