our next Disney trip is early March, will any of the new Avatar attractions be open then? I realize some things won't be open until the summer.

What I have heard about the opening for Pandora is "summer 2017". There has been a lot of discussion about whether that means June or September. I don't think March quite makes the definition of "summer". There was a nice new teaser video shown during the Disney Christmas special but the latest "spy shot" aerial photos over on WDWmagic still show a lot of work in progress. It may remain in your "next trip" planning folder.

They mean summer 2017, that's all we know.. March is not summer.

Keep in mind rivers of light opened spring 2016 and that's still not opened and coming in 2017 now. You might get lucky with a summer or fall trip in 2017 if that is important.

Given that it sounds like there will only be 2 rides, a restaurant (QS), a shop and "drink location" ..
... I can't imagine they would open anything early.

In order to get the WOW factor they will have to open it all at once to great fanfare.

dont think so. we made a trip for march and december and are cancelling the march trip so we can see avatar.

I doubt that it will be open any earlier than June, we have a trip planned for the end of May and we do not think there is a chance that it will be open then. So we are going to do a short trip 4-5 days in October or November if it does indeed open over the summer.

The question has been answered for the most part. The announced opening is Summer 2017. It's unlikely they open anything in March.
