How do you tour AK efficiently? We are going early October on an EMH morning with 8am open. What's the best way to tour AK without a lot of backtracking? Since ROL probably won't be open, I've switched us to a half day morning just to get acquainted with AK. We have a relatively short trip and this is all we can do for AK.
Must dos:
Safari
Expedition Everest
Rafiki Planet Watch- maybe
Primeval Whirl/ Dinoland

We have a Tusker House ADR at 11:30am. I've never been to AK and dont really have a sense of how long it will take to get around or how much we will stop and check out in between rides. Should we start in Dinoland and work our way around ending in Africa? Would that be a good use of EMH(minimizing line wait times)?

I would actually suggest the opposite: start in Africa and work your way to Dinoland.

The animals are more active in the morning so doing Safari first thing would be good. I would FP+ EE or get there right before 9am. I personally would skip Rafiki's planet watch. Definitely go on the Exploration Trails in Africa and Asia. Probably FP+ Dinosaur if you want to do that. If Primeval Whirl is a short wait you can do it, otherwise I would just skip it.

To go back to Africa from Dinoland to get to your Tusker House reservation isn't too long of a walk.

Safari and Expedition Everest usually have the longest wait times.

Good luck and enjoy AK. It's my favorite park!!

Also, make sure that you check out the kangaroos in front of the Tree of Life! They are so fun! It's labeled on the map with a kangaroo image.

I measured it out on Google Maps. To go from Dinoland to Tusker House is about 0.3miles. Similar to going from Tomorrowland to Adventureland.

Ah, I see that. I looked earlier from the safari to Dinoland and it said .9 miles! I was worried I'd wear my kids and mom out with that. That must be from the middle of the ride lol. I feel much better now.

Yeah, that must be! Even if you look at the whole round trip Africa to Asia to Dinoland to Discovery Island to Africa, it's about 0.7miles. That is not including the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail or the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Totally doable.

So exciting that you get to explore a new park!
