WE PLAN ON GOING TO AK ON OUR FIRST DAY IN WDW. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN AND ARE WONDERING WHAT YOU RECOMEND FOR LUNCH. I LOOKED AT THE MENUS-BUT JUST WANTED SOME OPINIONS ON WHAT EVERYONE THINKS IS GOOD.
THANKS SO MUCH,
JULIE

My family loves the Rainforest, the kids love the atmosphere & I think the food is really good. I can not remember the name to the bar-b-que place, but it sure smells good.

Rainforest Cafe....we love it.

I think the above poster is referring to "Flame Tree Barbeque"....we've never been there.

We really enjoyed our lunch at Flame tree BBQ. DH had the ribs and really liked them. A nice change of pace. Tusker house also came highly reccomended but the childrens menu wasn't appealing to my DD's, so we went to Flame tree instead. :thumbsup2

My family loves the flaming tree...very good (I always have the baked beans, corn, chicken). We also enjoy Pizzafari - good sandwiches. I actually love those two restaurants!

We Were Interested In Rainforest Cafe But I Hear That You Can't Make Adr's. Is That True?
Thanks, Julie

Id suggest the Flame Tree. We always eat there when we do AK and have always enjoyed it. Food is yummy and plenty of seating too. Plus its nicely shaded.

You can make ADR's at rainforest, I always make them. You can also buy a safari card at the podeum. I paid $10 for it, back in 2003. You get 10% off of your meal or a free appetizer. When I was there in jan, they gave us a free appetizer & it cost $9. You also get seated at the next available table without having to make ADR's. You can also use it at other Landry's restaurants, if you have one close. Some of them are Joe's crab shack, Landry's Seafood, I do not know if there are others.

Tusker House is FANTASTIC and is inside the park itself - very close to the safari ride! It's a CS, so no ADR's needed. Last time we were there, there were strolling musicians and the chicken is out of this world!

agree with the Tusker house, food portions were huge and food was great, we had 1/2 chicken with mashed and veggies and chicken sandwiches all wer great. also flame tree bbq is good ribs are wonderful

We have been to Tusker House the last two times we were there, and it was great both times. The chicken is really good, and the wrap comes with interesting side dishes. Kids liked it as well. Service has been fairly quick both times. Saves time from having a big sit-down meal, but doesn't seem so much like fast food to me. Happy planning! :)

TUSKER HOUSE. Exit out the back side of the rest. to a wonderful court yard. You will forget your even in AK. There is also a recording of dishes clanging and such that adds as background noise. It's not loud or to noticable.
We ate out there last month and my DH said "wow someone is working hard up there". I laughed so hard I thought I was going to fall off my chair. He still didn't believe me when I said Disney adds backgroung noise in to add to the scene.

You won't be disapointed in Tusker's.

Also on a side note, Flame Tree is my 2nd choice depending on which side of the park we're on. On our last trip, I was surprised at how many people were sitting/standing in front trying to eat their lunch. There is a TON of seating behind. We love the pegoda (sp) on the waters edge. Not last trip, but trips 2 and 3 back, we would sit and enjoy our meals and take in the progress on EE as the mountian was being built.

Enjoy your trip!!
Kim

You'll find something great at each of the AK CS places. Our favorite is Flametree - love the pulled pork sandwich! And as others have said, nice shaded eating area to the side of the place.
