AK in the afternoon??

Just wondering if anyone knew how crowded AK is in the afternoons? We are going in May, and I was thinking that maybe most people went to AK in the morning, since that is when the animals are supposed to be most active, and then park-hopped somewhere else for the afternoon. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

AK is hotter then you know where in the afternoon IMO! Which is probably why it's more crowded in the a.m.! We always do it in the A.M. unless all we're doing is riding Dinosaur - then we'll come over late in the day and usually not have a problem with lines.

We went in Jan., so I can't comment about heat... On one of our last days we went to AK around 2-3ish and it was wonderful - next time we'll go there later in the day. We learned on the Backstage Safari tour that the animals know when "dinner-time" is - so the animals become more active towards the end of the day. The tigers were playing, there was almost no one there, it was like having the park to ourselves! Have a great trip

We're just back, yesterday, and visited AK on Monday afternoon. This week, being Easter week combined with Spring vacations, was awful!! We were in the area, because we purchased a home in December, so we stopped by a couple of times last week. I remember, vividly, why we don't visit at this time of the year anymore!! But, the trip to AK came about around 2:00pm and we waited 65 minutes for the safari. I expected the animals to be sleeping, for the most part. It was one of the best safaris we've been on. There were lots of animals, in different spots than you'd expect and closer than I've seen in a long time. It was truly one of the best we've seen in awhile. I wouldn't hesitate to go again at that time of the day.....just not during Easter week!!

We just got back today and we were also at AK on Monday - it was awful from 11:00am on......... we went for Early Entry, got a fast pass for the safari and while we waited did the Pagani trail and Rafiki Planet Watch - I thought we were doing well but from then on it was downhill - we were stuck in DinoLand most of the day waiting for our fast pass times for Dinosaur and Primevil Whirl. We never got to see Bugs Life or Lion King. I highly recommend going for Early Entry, hitting the high points and getting out by noon - I wish we could have gone back another day but with the crowds we kept getting backed up.

P.S. I heard that AK reached capacity on Monday!

It reached capacity about 20 minutes after we arrived, around 2:00pm. The FP for the safari was 5:45-6:45 when we checked so we decided to brave the line, which said a 90 minute wait. It ended up being 65 minutes, but mostly out of the sun. The length of the ride makes the wait worthwhile. There's no way I would wait for the Dinowhirl or Dinosaur ride but a lengthy show is worth it. We also saw "Tough to be a Bug" with only a 20 minute wait after the safari ended. Planning which way to spend your time is beneficial on busy days.
