Is it possible to ride the the Safari at 8 am ish or rope drop EMH then do Pangani trail before the rapids open at 9? Could we get anything else in before Emh is over and Rapids open? Is this a good plan at all?

Yes its very easy to do both if you are there at rope drop and head straight to safari. You can walk straight on and the tour takes about 20 min.
