You'll find people of two minds - some tell you to avoid morning EMH parks entirely for the day, and others will tell you to go early and get out of dodge before it gets busy.

I'm in the latter group - if you can get there early (BEFORE 8am) you can really bang out quite a few attractions before the crowds build by 10 or 11am. I usually plan on being out of an EMH park before noontime, and usually earlier.

It's an unusual phemonmena, but if you watch the resort bus lines you will see that even at say 10am at the resort, more people (often MANY more people) will be in the line to the park that had EMH that morning. Operative word : "had" - the benefit of EMH is over by 9am, yet for some reason everyone gravitates to that park throughout the day.

What I like to do, when really planning a day, is get to EMH early, do the rides, and then have a PS somewhere in the vacinity for lunch. I've done this before with the Rainforrest Cafe at AK - made a PS for 11:00 or so and just when everyone is squished in the park sneak out and have a leisurely sit-down lunch and then go somewhere else for the rest of the day.

I cannot comment on EMH for the AK, but I agree with NewEnglandDisney's strategy. We also get to the park early to take advantage of the extra hour. At MK we followed someone's advice on these boards and jumped on the train instead of walking up Main Street. We got to Splash Mtn and BTMRR way before any lines formed. It was GREAT! We also leave before the noon heat and crowds build. We don't return to the EMH park that day. We always go to another park after a hotel break.
If you use EMH early and mix in FP when you can you WILL get a lot done before the major crowds set in.

I don't recommend AK EMH is the AM. We did it last year. What a waste. Dinosaur wasn't open. The Safarri wasn't open. Kali River Rapids wasn't open. The only thing we did was It's Tough To Be A Bug.

plain other day , take care :rotfl:

I think that must have been an unusual day. Pretty much the whole point of AK in the AM EMH is the Safari - because the animals are most active in the early hours before the sun and heat get to them.

When I've done it, I've done the Safari twice in a row (FP is your friend when it's on), done one of the nature trails or ITTBAB, and been over to Dinosaur for the 9am opening.

It's really the best way to see the safari - though from jovidan's post it seems you should call ahead the day before and ensure that the Safari will indeed be running.

Either way, AK is a) hottest during the middle of the day, seemingly more so than other parks with much less indoor air conditioning, and b) more disjointed and crowded anyway, so plan on being out of there by 10 or 11 am. But, you should be able to bang out all the major rides in that 2-3 hours.

AK is extremely difficult to navigate duirng AM EMH. We were able to do the safari, but that was about it. The walkways are narrow causing major bottlenecks when the gates open. It really didn't seem worth the effort fighting the crowds.

THANK YOU YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIME, AND INFO ;)

HAVE A GOOD WEEK :cool1:

PS GOT IN TO CRT BREAKFAST

What do you think someone with NO HOPPING tickets should do on EMH days
1)go early and then go to resort/dtd for rest of day
2)go early and stick it out through crowds, etc... or
3) avoid the EMH parks completely

The going early/commando and the getting out of dodge to another park isn't an option for us (no hopping)

If you aren't hopping, avoid them. However, you may want to go to one of the parks for NIGHT EMH, which from what I hear hasn't been very crowded at all in many cases.

I'm a big park person, I only go to DTD once per trip - so I'd choose #3. EMH is AM is no huge advantage (unlike PM, which is shaping up to be), and it's not worth the hassle.

As I said above, people also tend to gravitate toward that park all day, so #2 just isn't worth it - even if they don't arrive until noon, more people go to that park that day. Just look at the bus lines from the resort to see.

Unless you are going to flee to another park, pick a non-AM EMH park.

Okay then here is my dilemma (slight exageration)... my family flies in on Thursday evening and the next day is EMH am at MK, so we should avoid that right? But then there is Saturday and Sunday which I have to assume are insanely crowded since it's the weekend? That means we have to wait all the way until Monday to visit our most looked forward to Park?? I mean, my kids are little (4 and 2) MK is the whole reason we're going!! I HAD planned on going to EMH am at MK on Friday, MGM on Saturday and AK on Sunday, Typhoon Lagoon on Mon, Epcot Tues, Nothing on Wed, Mk on Thurs again! What should I change?

You just described US on our last visit in December!! And here's the reason why it happened like that:

We PLANNED to do EMH and made PSs for lunch. Then, my kids and DH were so tired that it was impossible to get them up,fed and out in time to take advantage of the early entry. But since we'd booked our day there for lunch/dinner, we had to go on to that park.

Next time, we'll do counter serve lunches~ that way, if the sleepy heads can't get up in time, we'll avoid the EMH park! :rotfl: :rotfl:

With little ones, this is what I would do :

Friday : EMH at MK until it gets crowded/kids get cranky - go back to resort and maybe a different park later in the day (say, MGM for Fantasmic! if they can handle that sort of thing)

Saturday : Skip MK

Sunday : Go to MK at opening - Sunday mornings are known as the slowest in the kingdom. Sundays usually aren't as bad as Saturdays, when many of the locals turn out - and people who arrived on Friday want to go to the MK first.

That would maximize your MK time and you could fill in other parks at the other times.

Good luck!
