AK DVC Safari Spectacular in Sept

Just noticed on the DVC Member Site Events Calendar that AK will have a DVC Safari Spectacular from 9:30 - 11:59 PM on select days in Sept. My party of 6 has already planned 9/22 for the AK, so this will be a great opportunity to really enjoy AK at night and be sure to see RoL. Registration opens July 6th.

Not really sure yet what this 'event' involves, and if the park will be closed to non-DVC members (and those DVC resale owners post 4/4/16 ). Hopefully more information regarding this event will be published soon. Either way, looks like our park planning for Sept is working out well. We can sleep in on the morning!!

For the 2 DVC after hours events at the MK, it was exclusive to the DVC members that signed up (with one exception). At the 2/25 event, the Disney Parks Blog ran a sign up of their own that was limited to (I believe) 200 people which were allowed into the DVC event.

I believe it stated a member and guests for the AK Night events in Sept. We will be there. Both DH & I are DVC and will be traveling with one other couple, do they usually allow one guest per member?

The MK event was limited as follows:

• Party size limits apply:
  • For Members with a reservation at a Disney Resort hotel, party size is limited to the Member and up to the number of guests listed on their Disney Resort hotel reservation.
  • For Members without a reservation at a Disney Resort hotel, party size is limited to the Member and up to 5 guests.

Not sure if the DAK event will have the same limits or not.

The Disney Files magazine indicates that on-site guests will be given a priority in booking the DAK events. This information has not been added to the event webpage, so I'm not sure what they are going to do yet.

We are planning on attending the 9/22 event and I was able to get a Std View Studio at AKV so we won't have to make the hour drive home after the event ends.

I asked Member Services about this a day or two ago, and she said that it would be making a reservation for it on an announced day for each one. The first date to make a rez is July 6, for Sept 6, and then another date for the next one, etc. so it will require paying some attention.
I haven't gotten a Disney Files recently -- did they just start arriving to folks?

Am so glad I've a trip planned, and we're staying at AKV, Jambo. 3 of the 5 of us are DVC members!

I am pretty stoked about this event at AK on Sept 6 since we happen to be there and it's DHs birthday to boot.

With the news of Rivers of Light being delayed there is a decent chance we may not get to see it during our June/July trip. It should be ready by Sept, right?

Disney will release more details on RoL in mid to late May according to the Disney Parks Blog post that announced the delay.

We are also already booked at AK 9/17-9/24 so we are excited the 22nd falls in line with our trip. AK is one of my favorite parks already. Can't wait for the night activities.

We decided on 9/22 since it's a Thursday. I'll take Friday off and we'll get an early start on the weekend. The other 3 events are all on Tuesdays.

I had no problem booking a Studio at AKV (one of our home resorts) after the 25th Anniversay events were announced. I was also able to book at Studio at SSR for the 2/25 MK event after the announcement.

That's nice, but my trips were already booked, along with vacation time granted etc. I'm using my AK points next month, BW in Sept/Oct...fat chance trying to switch out those dates, even if I could.

Not everybody is flexible to switch things around to be able to jump on these offers if they already have trips in place. My wish is they'd announce these events in timely fashion, along the time line of the 11 month booking window many of us abide by so more would have a 'fighting chance' to attend.

We are really looking forward to this. AK is by far my favorite park and I love being there after dark.

We are very excited about this. We had booked for sept 18-22, but we're able to add a night when this was announced. Can't wait!!
