Ok my AK cart finally arrived.. I am confused a little with it though. When I click on the head Setting does that go along with the body to make a paper piecing or is it just the head? I tried so many ways to make paper piecings last night and they were not turning out. So I have tons of little animals all over the place. Can anyone help me? I was working on monkeys and it appears the only piece you add is the bananna and the hand is that all you do to make it a paper piecing?

It is for a head only. The best example is to look at the turtle. The main body is sideways, but the head is, well, head on.

Yes. For the monkey, just the hand, banana & shadow to make a paper piecing. Using watercolor pencils or markers to make shadow and highlights works best for this kinda paper piecing.

thanks! I was about to have a melt down last night. I couldn't figure it out and I couldn't get online to ask. I finally gave up and went to bed. It's been a rough week.

I did the same thing KAT.. I had to email AWM and ask her if I was going nuts.. I was so stressed out... :) Hope things are going well otherwise!

sometimes if the seams allow I will make 2 and cut the heads off and use it to make a second layer. I use pens to highlight the cuts to make the legs too.

I  helping. It's my thing.

I'm glad the week is almost over for you Kat, hopefully next week will be much better!!

Thanks AWM, the next 3 days are going to be BAD for me emotionally but I will get through it. Tuesday I have another doctor's appointment for a another surgery so I'm stressing right now on top of everything else. Right now I just want to crawl in bed and hide under the covers.

Hi Kat!

I had the same problem when I got this cart. That whole head thing confused me.

I also made monkeys and what I did was cut two monkeys out in different color cardstock. I then cut out the tummy and face of the lighter cardstock and glued it onto the darker layer and used pen to make all of the markings.

I hope that helps! Overall it's a fun cart but it takes a while to get the hang of it.

BTW, here's some :wizard: for you. I've had a pretty rotten week myself so I know how you feel.

Kat -- Hope your week gets better.

I have used stickles (glitter glue) to add dimension and also fluid chalk ink pads. Wiggle eyes too. I was very pleased with using black stickles on the penguin and raccoon (I have both ZooBalloo and AK so not sure which cart any of these animals are on). Sometimes cutting a black shadow helps too.
