AK at night

Going over Christmas I expect AK to be open later hours, and while dark. Does this mean many of the attractions will be closed, or not worth our time? We still have the shows and some rides to keep us busy, but how about the safari? Or trails? Or maybe things get better at dark...

The safari and trails close before sunset at the present time. There are plans for a night safari, but its start date has not been announced.

I have been there at night and will say it is cool! It's very dark and feels kinda mysterious. While there wasn't as much to do, which will be changing with the new stuff, I still enjoyed it.

Animal Kingdom at night is amazing!!!!!!!!

Everest is fantastic at night, like a different ride. The whole park gets a very atmospheric vibe. The lighting they use there is beautiful.

Our favorite part of our trip last year was being able to experience AK after dark.

Even better, one time I was at morning EMH at AK while it was still dark. It was the day after daylight saving time started so it was still dark at 7am when it opened. It was great watching the sun rise while riding Everest about 730am.

Now this is an idea. We'll have see what the Christmas hours will be. 7 am will still be relatively dark in FL in December.

Not sure about AK's operating schedule these days, but in the past it often stayed open past 5pm, at least until 6pm. One night in early March 2013 it was open until 8pm, for no discernible reason. Not spring break season yet. It was a chilly day, and the place was practically deserted after 6pm. Got lots of rides on Everest in. In fact, CMs were holding the Everest trains until they were about 3/4 full before releasing them.

We rode Kali River Rapids about six times in a row on New Year's Eve. There was no line and twice they didn't even make us get off. It was really fun in the dark. I think the park closed at 8 that year.

Can we delete this thread so we keep the awesomeness of AK at night a secret? I don't want everyone know. I think an evening trip to to AK sounds perfect.
