Is the addition of the AK to the Early Entry program new (within the past 2 years)?

At one time, if I remember, the AK wasn't a park that participated in EE. I believe it was because the park normally opened at 8 AM.

I'm starting my "plan" for my August trip and I was surprised to see the AK listed for EE.

This last time when they started the early entry days they add AK. We did the early entry for AK and the animals seemed a bit more active and move around more on the safari ride. We always do this ride first thing.

The EE at AK doesn't seem as valuable to me as it is at other parks. We went to EE and went straight to the Safari. By the time we were done there it was 9:00 and the park had opened. So we really didn't get much of a head start. I'm comparing to MK where we were able to get 5 or 6 rides in before the park opened to the general public.

Elk34 - Is the opening time 7AM for AK when it's Early Entry?

We'll give it a try on our next trip. But like you, when we do EE at the other parks, by the time everyone starts to roll in we've already done many rides. But I do welcome the return of Early Entry. I was really sorry when it was discontinued.
