AK/AKL bus question

Hi! I need some expert advise. I am planning on starting my day at the Animal Kingdom. I have never been to the AKL and since I will be so close to it I thought I might drop by to have a look around before heading over to the MK. My question is should I go back to the AK to catch the bus or just catch it at the AKL . I am looking for the quickest way to the MK and have heard that the bus from the AKL can be slow sometimes. just back from AKL yesterday. Buses ran every 20 minutes to all parks and we hardly ever waited .... Plus AKl doesn't "share" buses w/ any other resort so we always had a seat even though it was busy when we were there. Typically they started 45-50 minutes before the parks opening and ran every 20 minutes after that. we were impressed with transport to MK.

We just got back on July 1 from a week at AKL and were very unimpressed with the bus service. Several times we had to stand because so few buses were running that a big enough crowd assembled to fill the bus when it finally arrived. One night we had to share the bus coming back from EPCOT with folks from CSR who were dropped off first! But, really, in your situation none of that matters because you're going to have to catch a bus from the AKL anyway, whether you take it back to AK and then on to MK or straight to MK from AKL. Frankly, I think it would be faster to catch the MK bus right from AKL. Why transport yourself back to the AK and wait again there for another bus? In fact, I'm not even sure there is a MK bus fron the AK. I think all the park buses run from the resorts. Any experts out there to confirm this?

We stayed at AKL 6/28 thru 7/3 used their buses a lot and had no issues,very reliable. Not crowded and short waits.

From what I'm reading - you will already be at AK, and are trying to decide if it is worth your time to take the AKL bus from AK to AKL, and look around, then take the MK bus from the AKL, is that correct?

If so, I think it would be worth your while - the bus from AK to AKL takes under 5 minutes to travel from the park to the hotel. The bus from AKL to MK will not take any longer than the bus from AK to MK - the distance is about the same.

The only thing that may negatively affect your travel time is the waiting time for a bus, and that is purely luck of the draw. You will have to wait for the AKL bus from AK first, and then wait again for the MK bus at AKL. You may have no wait time, or you may wait 10-15 minutes each time.

Personally, I've had very good luck with the busses from AKL - they run at very regular intervals.

I haven't taken it but I am told that park to park buses stop at the TTC rather than the MK proper. You take the monorail or ferry boat to the MK.

So you might find taht on average that taking whichever bus comes first to the AK (AKL or TTC) will give a quicker trip to the MK.

That's right SeashoreCM. The AK and MGM to MK busses drop off at the TTC.

If you're going to be at the AKL anyway looking around, it will be much quicker to take the MK bus.

Thanks for all of the help. I have never seen the AKL but have heard wonderful things about it. I thought since I was going to be so close it would be a perfect time to check it out. I will follow the advice and catch the bus from the AKL to the MK. Thanks again!
