AK add on or new master?

We have a Dec. UY and want to do an add on at AKV of 120 pts. While we were there last week we talked with our guide on the phone. He was leaving for a cruise, so he asked if he could give us the details and mail the paperwork when he got back. We were told we would get the $1000 credit toward the downpayment, 120 DP's to use at SSR before Oct. 3rd, and our allotment of 2009 points would be available on Dec. 1st.

I read a post on here(that I can't find now) that Dec. UY's were getting 2008 points as well. That didn't make sense to me at first, but now I am wondering. When we purchased SSR in May 08 we did get 2007 points as well (but no Developer's points). Are the DP's to hold us over until Dec. or was it an oversight about the 2008 points? Has anyone had this situation and did you get 2008 points?

My dh said it might be worth it to go through the hassle of a new master contract so that we can get a UY with points that will be made available earlier(if 2008 pts. are not included with our add on). We know we would have to do 160 points vs. the 120, but that is not a big deal. Also, we would not be combining the points, so the booking window worries would not be a huge concern either.

Are we making too much work for ourselves, or would the hassle be worth it? Are there any other details about a second master contract that I might not know?

I am sorry for all the questions, but my guide will be away and I'm just anxious to understand it all.

You can't get 2008 points because your unit in Kidani isn't available for occupancy yet. That's why you received the developer points.

I seem to recall that those with UYs of Jun, Aug, Sep, Oct and Dec got 2008 points because their 2008 UY overlaps with the opening of Kidani on May 1, 2009. Those with UYs of Feb, Mar and Apr started with their 2009 UY because their 2008 UY ended before Kidani opened so no 2008 points existed for those UYs. You should check with your guide about this.

ETA: It's also possible that they had a limited number of 2008 points and that they have run out of them.

Right, I understand getting the developer's points to use since points can't be used before the opening date, however last August when we looked into adding on (we ended up waiting until now so we would have Dh's bonus) our guide said we were in a different situation in that we would have the plus of getting Dec 08 points (not to be used until 09), along with another set of points in Dec 09.

My original thinking would be that we wouldn't get 08 points since it's now Jan 09 and we're past Dec., however, like I said in my original post, I know I read about someone here who was in the same situation and received the points.

I guess I'll wait until our guide gets back, but you know how some things drive you nuts until you have an answer?LOL

Thanks. I knew some were getting the 08 points, like I said above we were offered them when we looked into an add-on last Aug., but as you said they may have run out.

I read on another post about incentives that all 2009 UY's were available, so maybe doing a second master contract with a Feb, Mar, or April UY would be in our best intrest. I don't know why we didn't just buy more points in the beginning. With 5 kids, we almost always will need a 2 bedroom.

We bought in Aug. 08 and have a Dec. UY. We received DP, plus 08 points to be used after 5/1/09, and then receive 09 points on 12/1/09.

You're still in your 2008 UY so it's not too late to get 2008 UY points. It won't be too late until Dec 1, 2009, the first day of your 2009 UY.
