We are thinking of going down next June (thinking 17-27) and renting DVC and staying at AK in a 2-bed villa. Do these typically book up quickly? Or do the other DVC resorts book up quickly in a 2bed (do NOT want SSR or OKW). Just trying to plan and see what our options will be.

studios rent the fastest

then 2-bedroom

then 1-bedroom

Jambo house only has 1 & studio together to make a 2-bedroom - so it want that one do it sometime between July and Oct - using an owner.

Kidani really has nice 2-bedroom dedicated as well as a few lock off.

For June you would do ok booking at 7 months out, but after that, you might find you will be missing a day or two in your desired dates.

This website has a pretty good listing of how early to book what types of rooms. I would definitely book early if you're adament about not wanting OKW or SSR as those are the largest DVC resorts and will more than likely have rooms until very close to your vacation (in not vacancies while you're there.)

We just paid our deposit today for AKV Kidani, 2 bedroom villa. We rented points as well, I put our request in late Sunday night and it's offical today:) This was our first pick and we are going Sept 28th 2013 so about 6 months out:)

However, keep in mind.... traditionally September is a much slower month than June, so while not an issue getting a reservation for September at six months out....could be a bit more difficult for June. Based on my own experiences as DVC owner...availability at less than 7 months can be a problem...depending on when you are traveling....September and January are usually not a problem...any other time I would definitely request a reservation no later than the 7 month window.
