I understand that ajoining rooms are requests, not guarantees. My question is does anyone have a sense of how often Disney is able to meet this request, specifically requesting 2 ajoining rooms at the Poly. Thanks

I think if you are travelling with young children they will guarantee the request, but other than that I think it depends on how crowded it is. I know that when we went several years ago over President's Day and we stayed at the CBR, they originally did not have us in connecting rooms, so I asked if they could check around to see if there were any available, and after some work they were able to help us. Sorry I can't be of more help. It would probably help if your only room request was connecting rooms, but if you are requesting non smoking rooms in Figi on the third floor, it may be more complicated.

Just wanted to offer up some clarification that "adjoining" rooms simply mean the rooms will be side by side and "connecting" means that they'll have an interior door that opens up between the two rooms. It's confusing terminology, so I wanted to make sure you knew there was a difference.

As to how it's handled, it's simply a request. You can have it noted on your reservation, but it won't be guaranteed. If there is a medical necessity for needing your rooms to be connected, then you would go through a different service to make your request and not CRO.

Hi,
I was going to make the same clarification about 'connecting' and 'adjoining.' We requested connecting rooms at CSR in 8/01 we we were granted our request.

Hi,
We reserved "connecting" rooms at ASM for November. Its for our family of 5. Three kids ages 3,9 and 11. If you want connecting rooms, and you have kids........they WILL guarantee that the rooms are connecting with a door between them. It says "guaranteed connecting" on our confirmation reciept! Now, our request is for 1 king room connecting with a standard double queens room, but that is not guaranteed, only connecting. The CRO cast member also said over the phone that connecting was guaranteed if its for a family with young kids.
If we get down to WDW and our rooms are not connecting........ its either 1 parent in each room or ...........the kids on there own..........yea right! Imagine that! Thats why I stressed the fact that our rooms HAD to be connecting!
Hope I could help.........

We requested connecting at CBR and had adults in each room and they still granted it - worked out well, mainly for babysitting at nap time....
Am hoping for the same at SOG in June - my DD and SIL will celebrate their anniversary and plan some special evenings - we will watch our 18 mo grandaughter while and a connecting room would work so much better....

I have requested connecting room twice and have gotten them both times. One time I actually called back and said I didn't need. I still got it to my surprise! If you have small children I think they do guarantee it, but your "technically" supposed to have an adult sleep in each room! Unless they sleep in the room with you, how would they know? Silly thing to me. :confused3

This is interesting because many other DIS'ers have reported being told that the rooms are not guaranteed connecting unless there is only one adult listed on the reservation. Might just be a matter of who you speak with at CRO. I would suggest that you bring your confirmation receipt with you though, just in case.

We took our 4 young kids to WDW over Easter....it was very clearly notated in every available location in my room ressies the words "Guaranteed Connecting Rooms." Our rooms did not have a connecting door. We fought (our rooms had been blocked for several months already, apparently incorrectly, because of dd6's special needs), and were moved to inappropriate rooms.
I did complain, and emailed a complaint upon my return home. The highest-up person I could ever reach explained that connecting rooms are NOT guaranteed, etc. She saw in the ressie that our connecting door WAS stated as guaranteed (tried to tell me it dioesn't matter what it says, it still is not guaranteed). I told her all THREE people I double checked with, who looked at our room assignments, CONFIRMED connecting door for me. Any one of those people could have CHECKED and the mistake prevented before it got so out of hand.

I spoke with this woman again the next day. ........and she reiterated that connecting rooms are NOT guaranteed. I tried to pin her down...said that my first ressie said Connecting Rooms Request. But after going through spec svcs, it said "Guaranteed Connecting Rooms for Families." I asked, hypothetically, if I take the next trip without dh -- just me and 4 small kids (he might be mad at the $123.17 and NOT come, lol) will several of my kids maybe get their own non-connecting room? She would NOT give a definite. She said ""Everyone wants connecting rooms." So maybe I will have to pay for 2 rooms, and squeeze us all illegally into one so none of my kids are sleeping in a separate hotel room illegally? she promised that they "try no take each situation individually. They would list the reservation as Guaranteed Connecting Rooms for Families, and TRY to make sure it happens."

So just know that you shouldn't bank on those rooms connecting, even if it is guaranteed.

Beth

p.s. My story above was taken from my trip report, just in case some of you read that and thought it sounded familiar, lol.

Thanks for the replies. Also thank you for the clarification between "ajoining" and "connecting". I was under the impression that room requests, including connecting, are never guaranteed, and I understand why. I was looking for folks experiences with the request being met. We (DS, DIL, 3 and 5 YO and myself) are trying to decide between the Poly, which we would prefer, or a DVC Villa.
Again thanks for sharing your experiences.
