Has anyone flown with them? What is the review?? I found a flight for about $500 round trip which is the cheapest i've found but i'm a little nervous booking with them being i've never flown with them before.

We love AirTran and fly with them whenever possible. Although, $500 seems a bit steep for them unless you're flying over a holiday. Where and when are you travelling?

We flew with them in '06 from Detroit - no problems. They are a discount carrier, so there are no frills, but I was impressed that with both flights being early afternoon departures, we were on schedule and, in fact, arrived about 10 minutes early on both flights. Also be aware that AirTran has just recently limited checked bags to ONE per passenger (withe the 50 lb. weight limitation - I think) - a second checked bag will cost you ($10, I think). Also, if you want to be able to choose your seat, I think you need to add $5 per passenger each way. Someone correct me on these prices if I'm wrong.

We would have booked them for our '08 trip at about $160/person round trip, but those weren't non-stop flights this time - the non-stops were more expensive (almost $200/person), and the flight times weren't as good as two years ago.

However, one thing you will find on the boards here is that AirTran has a tendency to change their schedules frequently - so, if you book now, start checking their website DAILY about a week prior to your vacation to see if your flight times have changed - sometimes it's a fairly big difference and people have mentioned that they have had flight times changed WITHOUT getting the notification from AirTran.

As long as you keep on top of that, you should have a decent trip with them.

One final note - I'm not sure how many people are in your group, but AirTran's fleet is composed mainly of Boeing 717 and 737 aircraft - the 737 is probably what most people are familiar with - 3 seats on each side of the aisle. 717's are a bit skinnier - with 3 seats on one side and only 2 on the other - you might want to check the type of plane assigned to your trip just to be aware of seating.

Have a great trip!

They are one of two carriers from our area that fly non-stop to Orlando, so we always fly with them. Like someone said...it's no frills flying, but we've never had a problem. I would recommend. $500 is steep for what we pay flying from Central Illinois, but fares are all different. I do know that unless it's a non-stop flight, they almost all stop in Atlanta because that is an Air Tran hub.

We are flying home over Labor Day weekend which is why prices have been so steep in general. I don't mind spending the $500 they are connecting flights but as long as I get there before my wedding i'm good :)
