What can you tell me about Airtran? Do they have assigned seats? How are they if you need to make changes to your reservation? How are they with providing extra help, i.e. my dad wiil be traveling with us and is 85. I know nothing about them and would love to hear all, good and bad.

I am interested in the seating also. I am taking my twin granddaughters and would not like to be serperated from them!!! I got an e-mail that said I could pick the seats 24 hours prior to departing. So I am going to try this. Has anyone done this? Will they try to keep us together?

I've flown AirTran a few times and like it. I'm flying with them again in 11 days. I booked through AAA and got assigned seats immediately. I know there is a fee of $5 per seat if you want assigned seats prior to the 24 hour check-in time. It was worth it to me to be seated with my daughter.

You can wait until 24 hours prior to your flight to get your seat assignments. There is no fee if you wait until then for your seats.

Fortunately, I've never had to change my flight information so I'm not sure how that works although there is a fee to change flights.

My last AirTran flight the majority of passengers were seated when a father and 2 children boarded. There were no seats together. Apparently they had not checked in prior to arrival at the airport. The flight attendents asked for volunteers to move so that the family could be seated together.
