airtran?

hi everyone! i'll be in wdw w/my friend in aug. we can get a rate of $172 rt on airtran. this would be great b/c we could fly out of an airport (white plains, ny) that is a bit closer (and less traffic) than laguardia or jfk. i do believe that we can only pick our seats at check in. i don't really care about that. my concern is that the last time i have flown on air tran (lga to newport news) on my return trip i was delayed 8 hours because of the flight being late from orlando. how is airtran w/leaving on time? thanks!

We have used AirTran numerous times and have been pretty satisfied. Any flight on any airline can be delayed for any number of reasons from weather to hardware problems. The only complaint I have with AirTran is that they are constantly changing their schedules. We always use the first flight out since if this changes at all it is only be a few minutes. During the day they have been known to make drastic changes. Last June we debated on a 2pm or 4pm flight back from Orlando. Luckily we picked the 4pm flight since they later cancelled the 2pm flight. I have always received an e-mail about the changes but they come way after the changes have been made. Do yourself a favor and keep an eye on their schedules after you book your flights.
AirTran allows you to get on-line 24 hours before your flight to pick out your seats and print your boarding passes.

Overall AirTran is a good airline with newer planes and a friendly staff of people. If they just stopped tinkering with their schedules after they post them it would make life easier for the passengers.

I agree. We fly Airtran exclusively. In over a dozen rt flights, we've only experienced 1 problem and it was a 3 hour delay. For our trouble, we did recieve meal vouchers for everyone and then I wrote and complained about the way it was handled and all 4 in our party received vouchers for a free flight for future use.

The thing I like about them best is that they only do 1 way flights, so you can always pick the best flight for you going both ways. We like to arrive early and fly out late on our departure date. With Airtran, that is easy. I also like their prices and for a discount carrier, I think they have excellent customer service.

I like being able to check in online and pick your own seats as well. Plus, they do now have XM radio on all flights, which is nice.

I also think they have one of the best reward programs around. We are doing 4 trips to Orlando this year and of the 4, our entire family of 4 is flying for free rt for 2 of our 4 trips, with one being at Christmastime, when for that trip alone, it would have cost our family of 4 over $2000 to fly rt!!
