Airtran VS ?

Booking airfare is about to drive me crazy. The reviews for Airtran are not so good. We leave from DFW on 10/16 and want a early flight. The only flight we can get in the AM is with Airtran. We used to be able to fly American or Delta and get direct flights early in the morning. Also, the price....Much more than I have ever paid before. Are prices expected to go down?

I've used airtran for years,and always loved them! never knew why they get bad reviews.....they were always on time or early,and had good deals!

I have NO complaints about Airtran and have flown them a dozen times.

American has several non-stops in the morning on 10/16 - 7:50, 9:40, 10:55. What is your return date? Prices look average.

DFW is American's main hub, I knew they had to have Orlando flights in the morning. I counted a total of 9 flights DFW-MCO on 10/16 (morning to evening).

We've flown AirTran our last 3 trips with no problems at all. We booked Southwest this time, just over price (no luggage fees--woo hoo!)

Yeah, I checked and they do have more flights if you go through AA direct. The cost is about double what you pay with orbitz and travelocity. But you are right this would be the way to go if they were not so high.

Never had a problem flying Airtran and have flown with them several times. I wouldn't worry about booking with them.

That's a trick with Orbitz & Travelocity. When you actually try to book the lower fare, it will most likely say not available and the higher fare that is on the airline website will come up. For some reason, they don't keep up with the prices.

I've also not had any problems with Airtran. The last time we flew with them was in March. The wheel of my new luggage had been broken resulting in a trip to Walmart near Disney but aside from that, I've not had changes in schedules or poor customer service which is often mentioned in bad reviews. I also favor Southwest but we just moved to the Cincinnati area and the closet airport with SW is almost 2 hours away.

We too use Airtran frequently for our flights. We mainly fly to Maine and Orlando on Airtran out of Baltimore. We have never had a problem with them except for one time after I had paid for our seats they moved us to another flight and we lost our seating assignments. They were quick to move us all back together after calling.

I think that the key to Airtran is that you have to keep checking your flights to make sure that the times don't change and they put you on an undesirable flight. As long as you do that you should be just fine.

Just returned on a roundtrip with AirTran from Orlando. Flight was 45 minutes (short 1 hour 15 minute flight) late going down and 30 minutes late for the return flight. But my biggest gripe was with the fees...good grief! By the time you add up all their "optional" fees, it is no longer a budget flight.

I've had less problems (read: none) with Airtran than other airlines. Most of my flights haven't changed times at all, and the ones that did change were less than 15 minutes. The only fees that Airtran has that I didn't encounter on other airlines was the seat fee, and I just add $6/person to flight prices to compare to other airlines prices.

We have flown Airtran and never had any issues at all either. On our last trip to WDW, Airtran did change our flight time about 4 times between booking and the flight. However, the total changes in schedule ended up being about 20 minutes. Not a big deal at all. I think many times the complaints about Airtran get overblown. I know some people have had legitimate issues, but that can be said about just about every airline. Although schedules do change quite often, the changes are pretty minor the vast majority of the time. Airtran has also been very good about allowing changes in flights when schedule changes screw up your plans.
