Does Airtran release right at 6 months (meaning daily) or do they release a block of 30 days around the beginning of the new month?

Right now, you can book as far out as September, which is more than 6 months. An AirTran agent told me fares will never come out more than 6 months ahead - but I can see on their site that this is not the case.

AirTran isn't easy to predict. However I suspect that within the next couple of weeks we will see dates released through just before Thanksgiving.

I contacted Airtran last week and was told that they will release october dates around March 16

Anybody else notice that AT uses 'placeholder' prices for the later dates of their releases the 1st day or 2, then adjusts them to their true price?

Often wonder if anybody books those crazy high fares unknowingly;)

Agreed. And the agent said 6 months at most. I am seeing that is not the case. They seem to be a little more like Southwest, only they don't publicize it.

Good information. Thanks. So I am hoping my early December date will be released in April or May.

Not sure if I should hold out that long. With the prediction of oil going up to $240 a barrel, it might not be a good idea to wait so long. :upsidedow

We're waiting on flights for late October.

(The last time we flew AirTran was back in late October 2008 and I remember buying our tickets around 2/4/08)

How long should I wait to see it fares will go down??

If you find a price that is good for you, book it. You can always ask for a credit later if the price goes down further. We always set a limit, like if it is under $100 each way, then we book it.

Yes, they've been doing that for a while now. At least since TG 2008 when I 1st started watching them like a hawk. :lmao: Seems to be a regular pattern.

They just added Nov. to the drop down box for dates so that should start loading soon.

So I just noticed our flight price has went down by $18 one way....I could call for a credit?!?! I hope this is true...because I was just kicking myself for not booking with like travelocity that will give you a refund if the price drops!

I wish they wouldnt tease us with releasing dates to the 15th. This wait is killing me

Sorry, I didn't explain that well. I haven't been watching them like a hawk since 2008, I watched them like a hawk for a TG 08 flight. I still have emails from our 2009 cruise. We bought on 2/15/09 for 11/7/09.

AT just now released my need 10/2/11 date.
