Airtran seat assignment??

Ok - I think we are going with Airtran because the price is much better than Delta. My question is about seat assignments. Since we are choosing the web fare it says that we will be given seat numbers at checkin. Is that when we check our bags at the counter or right before we board? There are four of us and I want to make sure that we are kept together at least in sets of 2.

You can get your seats 24 hours before when you do online check-in. I've flow AirTran 4 or 5 times, I've never had a problem getting seats 24 hours before.

There are no guarantees, of course. Also, in cases where you are separated, other passengers may be willing to swap with you, once you're on-board, to reunite your family, unless you have all "middle" seats to swap.

So - we are flying Airtran next week ...I plan on checking in online 24 hours in advance. But, I will still need to check my bags when we get to the airport. I still just get in the same line where I would had I not done the online check in, right?

I used to know all this stuff, but I haven't flown in 3 years... :O)

Yes, you still check your baggage like you normally do. They still require for you to show ID and all that... you just already have your boarding passes so you dont need to check-in once you get to your gate.

When flying Sun Country out of MSP, they had a separate line for VIP's and Web check in. We got to basically bypass the main line since we had already checked in. We simply showed out ID, got our bags tagged and off we went.

Does Airtran offer a separate line like this or is it all one line?

Hello...havent flown in 8 years,
and i keep double checking everything...nervous!

I received Air Tran PAPER ticket thru AAA disney
package. After speaking with Air Tran 2-3 times, (like i
was taking a vote or something)
I have been told I cannot do online checkin with this
kind of ticket and I must wait till I check in my luggage
the morning of May 16th. Im a little paranoid about not
being able to sit with hubby!!

I am assuming if I had E-Ticket, I could have done onine
checkin...Also have another question, will follow with
a new thread.
