AirTran seat assignment after purchase thru Expedia

So today I purchased airfare for my family on AirTran using Expedia. Being new to AirTran booking, I did not realize that there was no seat assignment, because on Expedia, there is no option to Add seat assignment.

So how badly did I screw up? Can I add seat assignment after the fact? Research after the fact, I realize I need to to pay for seat assignment. Fine. Happy to pay, but can I? Especially not having booked direct. Anyone with experience attempting to add seat assignment after having booked through Expedia? Thx.

I purchased my Airtran tickets through Orbitz the last two times I have flown.

If you go directly to Airtran's website and click on find itinerary. You will need your Airtran confirmation number (make sure it is not the Expedia number). Once you pull up the flight info, there should be a link on the right side of the page to choose your seat assignments.

You can also wait to get your seating assignments until you check in for the flight. You can check in, online, 24 hours in advance of when your flight leaves. I don't think you will have any problems getting seats together (if that is what you're worried about) because most people don't want to have to pay to choose their seats.

I have flown on Airtran many times and have never had a problem getting the seat I wanted or been separated from the others in my party.

We are a party of 6; 3 adults & 3 kids. My 9 year old has mild CP and I have twin 3 year olds. I am much, much more comfortable ponying up the extra bucks now to know that we won't have any unpleasant surprises at check in.

Even 2 single seats would be unacceptable for my particular party. We are definitely in the category of folks who should be getting advance seat assignments.
