We are first timers on AirTran leaving this evening at 6:00 p.m. We are not checking any bags and each will be carrying on a small carryon suitcase (under their size requirements) and each will have a backpack that can fit under our seat. We did not pay to have priority boarding but do have assigned seats. Curious what the chances are of us not having overhead space. Do people typically pay the $10 per person to "priority board". I noticed our boarding passes are Zone 6.

Also curious about printing boarding passes while at WDW. We are staying off site. I thought I read somewhere that customer service locations around the parks can print off boarding passes ... is that correct?

OR .. having an iphone can we "check-in" online .. then just print off boarding passes at the kiosk at the airport?

I never pay for priority boarding and have never had an issue, BUT, I make sure to board as soon as my boarding number is called. If you wait until the end, there is a good chance there will be no overhead space. Be prepared to gate check your larger carry on, just in case.

BUT......... every flight I have been on with Airtran, they have offered to gate check those bags for free! We gate checked 2 roll-a-boards on each flight. Those bags then came out on baggage claim with our checked bags. Saved us some money on checked bags.

I heard one woman at the gate claiming Airtran offered to gate check her bag for free, but she turned them down because her laptop was in there. You should have saw the look on her face when she boarded late and was told to gate check her bag (while standing in the aisle). She scrambled to get her laptop out. Best bet is to have that stuff in your bag that goes under the seat, just in case.

As far as check in, simply use the iPhone and print the passes at the airport.

Duds -- Thank you SO much for your answers. I'm hoping we won't have to worry with checking any bags .. free or pay .. would love to just carry onto and off the plane .. and move right along. We will be at our little airport about an hour early so hopefully won't have problems .. just a 30 minute layover in Atlanta so might be more difficult there.
