Airtran questions...

Hello all,

I have never before flown Airtran, or even really looked into them before. Dh and I are considering a short no kids trip this July (I know, hot and crowded) and right now I see Airtran is offering $99 each way. Out of Minnesota, that is pretty good pricing. I am wondering, do they often raise their fares or is this pretty normal for them. Would I need to book now to keep that price? Also, do they have sales very often?

Thanks!

They have sales ALL the time. One just ended, so I imagine one will start up again early next week. I'd just keep an eye on Airtrans website to see what the sales and fares are running, and then get your tickets a few weeks in advance. The low fares usually require a 7-10 day advanced purchase.

Go to AirTran's site and play with their ticket purchase software. It's set up like Southwest, showing each flight and what class seats are available and how much each costs. As time goes by, the cheaper seats will disappear (as people buy them, of course), and what you could have bought for $69 is now gone and the cheapest available is $149!

Other airlines like American provide the same information, but in a crappy painful manner. :)

So go to AirTran's site now and see what's available, and decide from that if you want to risk waiting.

I want to say I have never seen them go any lower than $79 or $89, so $99 isn't that much higher......

If you feel comfortable with that pricing and the flight times, I would buy..... typically, I think a flight at a total cost of $200pp taxes included is great from MSP. $222 isn't that far off, which is what your Airtran tix would be...

I have no complaints with Airtran and have flown them many many times.

Try the following to compare all airlines (except SW) as far as pricing...this is quite useful.

Thanks everyone. Oddly enough some of the flights I was looking at yesterday for July 20th, now only have business class left. I guess they are going fast.

I have another question, what is the difference in all the $99 rate classes, there is the web special, which is R class, and the discount coach which is Q class?

Thanks!

Where do you find this information on their site, do you have to go through like you are purchasing tickets or is it somewhere else??

Thanks!

Yep, "pretend" you are buying tickets... actually, as soon as you put in the airports and dates, you'll see all of the information. No need to go any further unless you see something you can't live without!
