AirTran pricing question

I've been waiting for Airtran to release the dates we need for mid Nov. I remember that every time they release new dates, the prices are super high, like $400 each way pp.

Does anyone recall how long they stay high like this? I don't think it was longer than a week or so but it's been since early 2009 that I watched prices like this for AT.

Has anyone done this lately?

I know it will return to normal soon. They always do it this way. For some reason I'm feeling very impatient with their release. I know for our Nov 2009 cruise we bought our flights that Feb so here we are in Apr and still wondering what the prices will be like.
If it's anything like October's fares, I'll be booking right away. USAirways has ridiculous prices.

I just posted about this I saw that they just released mid Nov. yesterday and the tickets were about $400 one way. Went on this morning and they were down to $79! So check again today and hopefully yours went down also. I see you're in NJ...we're also in the northeast, so hopefully the flights you want are cheaper now too! Good luck!

Wow, I have been checking around 2-3x per day, even was up til about 3am and still nothing. Good thing you responded! I was just reading email with my morning coffee.
I got $130 for a Sunday return which isn't great but for that particular week, very popular around here for vacay, it is! USAirways wanted $280 while every other day they offered $110; Spirit $279. I almost considering flying home the next am but ds will be in HS and I'd rather him not miss any more school, already missing 2 days for the trip.

I really wasn't expecting it to happen on a weekend. I figured that stuff would be done by the M-F employees. Gosh, they really do work 24/7.

Yay! So happy you got a good deal! Yeah, I was kind of surprised that it was just overnight that the prices dropped like that, especially just a day after the schedule came out. I knew there was no way I was paying the $400, but didn't expect them to go down so quickly! I was just kind of checking for no reason this morning and I booked those tickets super fast when I saw that price!

it was explained to me that they just use placeholder rates to post the initial and within a day or two the real price appears

so, who knows when Dec will be released
