I think I read on here awhile back that if the price drops on a flight that you have already booked that Airtran will give you a credit for the difference.

Is this still true? How to you go about doing that? I figured it could pay for our baggage fees, right?

Call Airtran and tell them you noticed your fare has gone down and you were hoping for a credit. Its pretty easy

We have gotten two credits from AirTran when they have lowered prices. It's really easy to do, and you can use the credits on future flights, baggage fees, seat fees, etc.

Yes, they will give you a credit. Just make sure that they don't charge you the "over the phone" $15 booking fee. They tried that at first when I said that my total credit should be $48, not $18 (only two of us flying), they quickly corrected it.

I am interested to hear more experiences with this.

I just booked our flight to MCO, but I am waiting on the return flight. I suspect fares may drop, but I am terrible at the airfare game.

I am hoping the fares do drop, so I can request a credit to apply to our return flight, baggage fees, whatever.

Once you receive the credit, it will appear when you book your next flight as a slectable line item credit. There is no magic needed to get it or use it.

If that happens we will be coming home on American! :scared1:

Most of the time they will go down, but in my case it is Spring Break and everything is higher than I have ever seen it before. Airfare and car rental are thru the roof! I am glad I booked my car and air early.

I keep getting e-mails that AirTran is $79 one way to Orlando. The exact flights we are watching are only $67 each way up through the end of May. But I think the end of the school year is a game changer in terms of airfare.

I paid $116 each for the DFW to MCO leg, just because I am funny about waiting. If it comes down I'll ask for a credit. If it doesn't, then I got an OK deal.

They typically only run their sales for a few months out... June sales probably won't happen until March...

A week ago there was a sale for flights through March 9, so I got a $20 credit for my Feb. flight. Yesterday there was another sale (that ends tonight), and I got another $5 credit. (Hey - $5 is $5!)

I wouldn't turn down $5. Seeing how we'll be shelling out almost $200 in luggage fees (or paying to upgrade to Business class) I will take whatever credit I can get!

I am really happy to hear that you were able to get credit! :thumbsup2

This was very easy. We just called last week, called and told them we noticed the airfare had dropped from our booking price, and we were credited $214! Our flights were listed for $59 each way--unbelievable!

We are going down Jan 1st. How do you pay to upgrade to business class? And how much is this to upgrade and when do you do it? That upgrade includes baggage fees then, correct? Do they usually have room for you to upgrade like that and how does it change where you sit? sorry for all the questions!

We've watched our flights all along, but i grabbed them at exactly the right time, literally, within a day for each leg of our trip. They've never gone lower but have gone up quite high some days, then back down a bit, but nothing close to what I paid(99 one way, 89 back).

When we went in June this year the option to upgrade came up when I checked in online for our flight. It was $69 per person to upgrade (one way), and it includes up to 2 checked bags. There was also a dedicated line to check our bags at the airport, which was nice. We had never flown AirTran before, and from what I can tell there is NO curbside check-in at our airport for that airline.

When we came home we did resort airline check-in, but when we got to the airport we upgraded at the gate. Of course we had already paid to check the bags at AKL, so it was kind of a pain to get the bag fees refunded, but we DID get the money back eventually.

Business class is 12 seats in the front of the plane - similar to first class. :)

Boy am I glad we called and got our credit at the right time! When we first booked, the prices for our flights each way were $82 and $69. Then they dropped to $59 each way and we got a $214 credit.

I just looked online today and our exact flights are now priced at $189 down and $279 back!:scared1: We paid $772 and with the new prices, it would have cost us $2447!!!!

My fare dropped a second time in less than 2 days! Got both credits.

Our trip to Orlando has gone up, but the return has gone down. Will they give credit for just one leg of the trip, or do they base it on total ticket price?? For example, I paid $86 each way when I booked. Flight down Is now up to $119 but price back is at $76. Thanks!
