Airtran - Price Adjustments?

We are flying Airtran for our January trip to WDW. I was looking at the Airtran website today and I noticed that the price of the flight we have booked to MCO dropped to $49. We originally paid $99. $99 is still a great rate, but is there any way I can get the $49 price even though I already booked at $99?
thanks :)

Yes, but you will have to pay a $60.00 change fee for each ticket ($75 after Sept 2007), which wouldn't save you any money.

This is not true. I just got a $340 credit for our four tickets for Dec. I had originally booked in May at a higher rate. I just called AirTran (select booking a flight at the choices on the phone). The person at the other end, said no problem and creditted our account with the difference. Be careful because she also creditted me with our seat selections and I had to go back and reselect our seats. No problem, just used $40 from the credit. But, now I'll just have to fly to Disney again!!

You can definitely get a credit from Airtran for the difference between what you paid and the new price. Just call them and they will do it immediately. You will have a credit for future travel good for one year. There is no cost to you for this!

I've done this twice already.

I also got a credit, twice on the same flights. Called after the first drop and got that credited and then when they dropped again, I called again and got credit. There was no charge to do this! Give them a call quick...while the sale is still on!:goodvibes

If Airtran changes the flight times, which I understand they are prone to doing, can I request a different flight without paying more for it? I booked $48 tickets weeks ago and would now like to fly later, but not bad enough to pay $60 for a change. Just wondering if they make a change, then can I also? They've already changed he time once -- just 20 mins and I agreed to that one already.

We just did what you are asking about. Airtran had changed the time (only 30 mins) but it was getting later than we liked. (We are driving to Vero when we land so we didn't want it to be even later) They moved us to another flight with no problem and no charge. The have excellent customer service IMHO.

Good luck!

If they change your flight times and you're not happy with them, will they give you a full refund on your tickets or only change you to another flight and waive the $60 fee?

Thanks for this, I just called and got a $70 credit for a trip to Baltimore next month...and especially for the reminder about the seats, they do remove the seat selection and credit that back too if not stopped!

Question though...this seems to work a bit differently than Southwest -- where do you see the credit when logging into the A+ account?

What happens if you booked your flight with Disney as part of the package for the end of August? Do you still call the airline or disney?

Lopey, If you booked as a package through WDW travel, or any TA for that matter you would have to contact the TA to have them make the change. The TA is considered the booking agent, mot Airtran. They can then call in and have the fare changed without the change fee being assessed.

TwoRoos- I would explain the situation to the Customer Service Rep and explain that due to your travel plans, this time simply will not work. They will
1st offer to change you to another flight. Decline and ask for a refund. If the CSR won't give you a refund, ask for a supervisor. If they won't budge, ask for someone in CRD (Customer Resolutions Department). The # for CRD is also on the website under contact information. You shouldn't have a problem with a refund....but just in case you do you'll know who to contact.

Once you log in (go to A+ Rewards link in the lower right hand corner of homepage) you should see a box on the upper right hand corner that says
a+ rewards summary. Below it should show your name, rewards #, available credits and lifetime credits. Available credits are the credits you can currently use to book rewards travel. At the lower left, ther's also a link to view your booknks, account history, redeems rewards and view special a+ rewards offers (car rentals w/Hertz, credit cards, etc)

Thanks but I tried that and am still not seeing it...in the upper right is flight credits - earned for previous flights - and I'm looking for the $70 credit from the fare reduction.

Thank you for all of your info! I checked our fare for fun this morn and it went down $10 each leg. So I read up on here, made the call, and just got a $40 credit! Yea! Thanks!

It doesn't really show the credit where you are looking for it (the A+ summary page). If you pull up your flight itinerary it should show flight info, cost, original payment made and then show a credit in that area....I guess you just need to hang on to that itinerary to use in the future as reference to how much credit you have. I, too, wish it would show up on the A+ summary page...the credits shown there are flight credits earned for future travel, not a dollar value credit for price adjustments that may have been made. Hope that made sense for you!:)

Ah ha...! Yes it's there under my "bookings" for the upcoming flight as "applied to credit account." Thank you!

Did the CSR who changed your reservation tell you they saved it as an A+ rewards credit? It sound like they saved it as a reservation credit insted. In that case, you would have to call Airtran when you're ready to use your credit and book through them. I would call and check with them, using your confirmation # for the reservation that you boked and then recieved the lower fare for. If they DID save it as a reservation credit, they should be able to just apply your rewards # for the credit to show up. I can't for the life of me remember exactly where monetary credits showed up on your account, but I believe it was somewhere on the main member screen. It may be quicker to call the A+ rewards department directly.

Their # is (800) 327-5878.

Hope you get it straightened it out.

I would like to thank everyone for letting me know about price adjustments on AirTran .I didn't think that they did this. The price of our return flight went down so I got a credit of $132 to my A+ Rewards Account.:thumbsup2
