Just curious if anyone has any experience flying with Airtran out of Richmond, VA. We'll be flying with two infants and are looking to avoid as much hassle as possible. Our other option is to fly Delta, which I've always been pleased with, out of Raleigh Durham, NC. We live about the same distance from each airport, but Airtran is significantly cheaper and the scheduled times make a lot more sense for us.

We swore off flying AirTran years ago, but we have flown jetBlue out of RIC twice now, and will absolutely do it again. We live in the DC suburbs so we are within just a few miles to both National and Dulles airports, but the fares in RIC are usually significantly less expensive, and RIC is way less crowded by both passengers and traffic. Getting to/from long-term satellite parking there is easy, too, using their free shuttle buses, or you can pay more to park in a garage directly across from the airport and walk over.

Its a lot further for us to drive to get there and home again, but because its smaller its easier to navigate, which we love, and we prefer it to the huge-ness of Dulles and the traffic to get in and around National. There aren't as many amenities (restaurants, shops, etc.) as there are at larger airports, but they do have an Appleby's on site, plus at least two gift shops. You can find more information here http://www.flyrichmond.com/

Besides the lower airfares, JB offers "more legroom" seats (for an additional fee, but worth it for us), first checked bag for each ticketed passenger is free, 1 non-stop flight in each direction between RIC and MCO every day and free television at every seat, so it works well for us.
