We're about midway between Flint and Grand Rapids. We have never flown Airtran. Their fares are much better than what I'm finding out of Lansing and on other airlines. Does anyone have any experience with Airtran out of either Flint or GR?

I did a general search for Airtran and see many negatives about them changing non-stops to 1-stops and all the weirdness with the boarding zones. Is that happening with the Flint and GR flights?

Flying will be me and DD15 who is a well traveled teen. We don't need to be seated together. We will, however, each have a carry on to stow above and a personal bag to stow under the seat in front of us.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

AirTran just started service in GR on May 4, so unfortunately not a lot of history to go on. They are trying to compete with Allegient in GR which is always nonstop and has consistent flight times, so I'm hoping they are fairly motivated to do the same... So far so good.

I've flown on Air Tran out of Flint, and had no complaints.

The only thing you need to watch flying them out of GR is that a lot of the flights have 2 connections. I noticed that when messing around with flights to Orlando.

Airtran out of Flint is great!! We have never had any problems...we usually fly the direct flight out first thing in the morning and the late direct flight home at night...No hassles in the airport with parking, luggage, etc.

We've been flying AirTran out of Flint for about 15 years and in that time we have had one schedule change and that was early on, before they had the direct flights to Florida and back. We've been taking the 7am non stop flight to Florida since it started and we usually bring the non stop home. We do get home a bit late, usually around 11pm, but we don't mind because the airport is only a couple of miles from us, which makes it very nice. Parking is a breeze and leaving your car in the long term lot is very reasonable. No complaints for us.

Same here. We havn't had much trouble with schedule changes with these flights, I think the evening flight has changed by a few minutes but nothing to write home about. I really like these two flights, gets us there pretty early in the day and then most of the day on our departure day.

I've flown out of GRR, but never Airtran.

Thanks for your help. We're looking at the nonstop flights. Hopefully they'll stay that way. I wish the Flint return flight didn't get in so late; we're leaning toward GR because of that.

Another vote for Flint here! We usually take the non-stop flights also and so far have only had the flight home rescheduele but only by about 30 minutes. Love that the airport is small and easy to manage and so close to home.

We fly out of Flint and always take the first flight out and last flight back. Because you would have to drive to Lansing afterwards I would probably fly out of Grand Rapids as they have a much better return flight for you. Susan

You might be able to get a better fare from Flint, not sure if the money saved would be worth it over the later drive home or not for you. The best I have seen from GRR is $88 for the non-stop. I have been stalking them but might still end up going from Midway if the price is lower.

I went from Flint with the earliest non stop and flew back on the latest non stop from Orlando with my mom & my niece and nephew.

It was an easy drive down 75 for us to and from Bishop. Less than 1 hour one way. Parking was easy to access, and they have a $5 economy per day lot with courtesy shuttle too.
