Checked our itinerary for March on Airtran just now. We have had 3-4 flight changes so far, one resulted in us being allowed to change to better flight times.

Well, there was another major change to our itinerary again today. We were flying MSP-ATL-MCO with a 47 minute connection in ATL. That same flight moved an hour later and had a 4+ hour connection in ATL. Airtran had already moved us to the earliest departure out of MSP (15 min. earlier), but it connected in MKE. We are now flying MSP-MKE-MCO. I am fine with that, BUT, due to the change 6 of the 9 of us LOST our seat assignments. They transferred over our seat assignments from the previous flights, but anyone that already had that seat reserved now showed a ??? !!!!! Luckily, we are still 45 days out and we were able to get rows 26-27-28 DEF, so we are all together. We did lose our preferred seating of three rows of AC seating and 1 row of DEF, but we are still together. It pays to double check!

That said, I do worry about those that don't check their itineraries diligently like I do. Some may have lost their seat assigments and won't find out until check in. Even if they paid for their seats, they still may be scattered all over the plane. It pays to ALWAYS keep an eye on your itineraries!

Travel safe!

Hope people read this too and listen!!! I have found 3 changes to our Delta flight in April. Our seats changed too (but they were free) but I got them fixed. I check weekly now....just like rental cars ;)

This would be one of the only reasons to have some compassion for someone who isn't sitting with their family or child....... that is if they PAID for their seats, but didn't know there had been a change...... that said, it is VERY IMPORTANT that everyone keep a close eye on their itineraries! Don't wait for Airtran to contact you! I checked on my own (I check daily), I did not receive notice from Airtran....... not yet anyway!

I have noticed that the last two or three changes have always been over the weekend....... that said, I never remember that until I see a change!!!!

glad you caught it!

when they recently changed my DS's march itinerary (and i got to get the NS flight:)) they also automatically carried over the seat assignments i had purchased.

problem was the 1st flight was on a smaller plane (2 seats on one side where i had them booked).

The new plane was larger with 3 seats on each side of the aisle. New assignment wound up having them placed: 1 @ the window & 1 on the aisle with empty seat in between them:upsidedow. Glad i double checked lol

enjoy your trip.

they did that to us last time we flew to MCO from MSP. That being said I checked my itinerary daily. I did notice for this May they had a ton of flights for MSP to MCO. I do wonder if they put more flights out there than they intend to fly? Oh well. Good catch on your part and good luck. Come March you will need to escape MSP as this snow is crazy!

Also, check if only your flight number has changed.

My flight number changed for my departure flight. I called ME to give them the information and then checked the confirmation.

I found that I lost my seat assignment on the departure flight, but it did not credit me back for the amount I paid for the seat assignment. It also showed the seat I had picked before was already reserved, and I had the three ??? in the box as well.

I called customer service and they said when the flight number changes, they "transfer" all the information to a new computer file; which did not pick up my seat number. Thank goodness I didn't find out when I got there - it was the latest flight out that I would want to travel, and I was traveling by myself and had a good 1 - 1/2 to 1 - 3/4 hour ride home from the airport.

Of course, since you're 45 days out, they'll change again and you'll have to go through the entire exercise again. I agree that it pays to check . . . and check . . . and then check again. Our United flights for April changed over the weekend, too.

HA! I have United flights for June. I checked and didn't see any changes... now you have me wondering... off I go to check again!
