Flew AirTran for the first time out of Philly, left 1/6 and came back today. Smooth flights, no problems what-so-ever, will definitely use again.

we will be flying from Philly to MCO on AirTran on the 22nd, as well as DIS'er Good Deeds and family! My DW and I are flying R/T, everything included, for $233. Amazing!
Did you pick your seat online and print out your boarding pass the day before? If you did, how did that work for you? How was check-in at PHL and MCO? Did you use curbside check-in at either airport? We plan to get to PHL at 5:00 AM for a 7:00 AM flight. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :earsboy:

Curious to know if you had advance seat assignments before you left.
I have been trying to book with them, but every fare that I want says "This fare does not allow advance seat assignments. You may choose your seats when you check in at the airport."
This puts me off a little. I like to know that I am going to be sitting next to the person I am traveling with.
Thanks.

We flew Airtran this past summer and they were great. When you choose their lowest fare you can not pick your seat until 24 hours prior to your flight time.
There were 7 of flying together and we were all able to seat near or with each other.

We took the 7am flight also, it left right on time. I did the online check in the day before and was able to pick out our seats and print the passes out. We went down the night before and stayed at a hotel near the airport(on a park, sleep fly deal) and then we were able to leave our car there for free over the trip. We took the free shuttle at 5am over to the airport and breezed right through security to the gate since we didn't check any bags.

On the way home I didn't do the online check in since I didn't bring my lap top but it was no problem, we ended up with seats all together and basically in the same location I'd picked out for the flight down.

Have a great trip!

Our fare said that too. On the way down we did the online check in 24 hours in advance and picked the seats out that we wanted. On the way back we waited till we got to the airport to check in and basically got the same seats we had picked out on the way down, all together with no problem.

I flew them last month, I went in exactly 24 hours before and had the choice of almost the whole plane.

Love your signature!!!! :cheer2:

Thanks for the info! I understand there is a place at the GF where we can use a PC to check in the day before our flight home. I think it's a business center or something. I want to get more info on that. I assume when you say you "didn't check any bags", that means you did curbside check-in. If so, did you tip the guy that takes the baggage? And, what would be a normal tip for him? Thanks and sorry for all the questions!

This is copied for a FAQ section on allearsnet.com

Disney's convention hotels all have business centers. Those hotels include: the Contemporary, the Yacht Club, the Swan and Dolphin, the Boardwalk, Coronado Springs and the Grand Floridian. The day after Hurricane Charley hit, I used the computers in the business center at the Yacht Club's convention center to check my airline reservations. These services can be very pricey, so don't plan on doing a lot of surfing. The Yacht Club charges $10 for 15 minutes of 'net access plus $1 per page to print. Each hotel sets its own prices, so it could vary greatly from my experience. Call the hotels' business centers for more information before making the trek over there.

My note. I left my family at the MK, took the monorail to the Contemporary, and used the business center there. They did not charge me for the access, they just charged the $1 per page for printing the boarding passes. I gave them $6 and hopped the monorail back to MK. I met my family at Pirates of Carribbean an hour later! Very easy.

Have fun.

I too will be flying on Air Tran out of Philly on Mar 8 & returnig Mar 14..my R/T cost was $146. I guess I caught them at a good time, the price the night before for the same flight was $333. I read somewhere that the best day to get cheaper flights is on Wednesdays and it seems that they were right!

We just had two rolling duffel type bags and we carried them on the plane with us.

Somewhere on the boards I read that many Disney resorts will help you with boarding passes 24 hours before the return flight. We are staying at OKW and I thought I'd ask at check in. Would certainly make it easier. Hope I'm remembering correctly and not just wishful thinking... :D

Maybe we can get our boarding passes with the help of GR at POR. If not, we'll try the CR on Friday.
Good Deeds - We'll see you at PHL on the 22nd!
Our weather is looking up. Now the long range forecast is calling for 70 the first few days instead of 62. :cool1:
