Flew AirTran for the first time out of Philly, left 1/6 and came back today. Smooth flights, no problems what-so-ever, will definitely use again.

Did you pick your seat online and print out your boarding pass the day before? If you did, how did that work for you? How was check-in at PHL and MCO? Did you use curbside check-in at either airport? We plan to get to PHL at 5:00 AM for a 7:00 AM flight. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!![]()

I have been trying to book with them, but every fare that I want says "This fare does not allow advance seat assignments. You may choose your seats when you check in at the airport."
This puts me off a little. I like to know that I am going to be sitting next to the person I am traveling with.
Thanks.

We went down the night before and stayed at a hotel near the airport(on a park, sleep fly deal) and then we were able to leave our car there for free over the trip. We took the free shuttle at 5am over to the airport and breezed right through security to the gate since we didn't check any bags.
On the way home I didn't do the online check in since I didn't bring my lap top but it was no problem, we ended up with seats all together and basically in the same location I'd picked out for the flight down.
Have a great trip!

I want to get more info on that. I assume when you say you "didn't check any bags", that means you did curbside check-in. If so, did you tip the guy that takes the baggage? And, what would be a normal tip for him? Thanks and sorry for all the questions!

I too will be flying on Air Tran out of Philly on Mar 8 & returnig Mar 14..my R/T cost was $146. I guess I caught them at a good time, the price the night before for the same flight was $333. I read somewhere that the best day to get cheaper flights is on Wednesdays and it seems that they were right!
