Looking at booking in August. For me and my 3 kids, it would cost $653 to book with assigned seats, roundtrip. Luggage is $15 per bag. Not too bad. I think we can get away with 2-3 bags. This is Detroit to MCO. The times were not the greatest. But the price looked pretty good to me, unless I am not looking in the correct place. Any thoughts?

Dates were Aug 3-11.

I checked airtran for those dates and it is showing $68.00 just for the ticket, add the $30.00 for the assigned seat and bagge fee and you are getting a deal.

I will warn you, you get what you pay for. I've flown AirTran several times and never had a good experience. They are constantly cancelling flights, so although you book a flight times 4 months in advance, you likely will not be flying at that time on the day of your departure. I have had two instances where the plane was grounded due to technical problems. One of those times I was told that we would need to wait in our seats on our plane in Daytona until a technician from Orlando could get to the plane and fix the problem. The distance between these two cities is over an hour. I promptly told my flight attendant that I would not be waiting in my seat, as it was illegal for them to hold me on the plane. I was allowed off the plane and the captain sat with me to make sure I didn't wander too far!!!!! When we finally got up to Newark, we didn't have a landing time and so we were circling and eventually needed to divert to Philly to refuel, before we could fly back to Newark to continue to circle. After that trip, I refused to ever fly AirTrain again!

Another vote AGAINST AirTran from me. I booked a NONSTOP flight with them out of Pittsburgh for our trip and they changed the times on it 3 times and then they discontinued that flight and changed it to a flight with a TWO HOUR LAYOVER. HELLO!!!!!

Thank goodness I could still get a seat on Southwest for a good price or I would have been absolutely livid! By the time they spring their changes on you, it can be HARD to get a replacement flight on another carrier. I have SO MUCH MORE peace of mind now.

I had heard all the AirTran horror stories and just assumed it wouldn't happen to me. I will NEVER book a flight with them again.

I think that is a great price as long as you aren't too tied to the flight times or schedule. AirTran is notorious for changing flight times and/or cancelling flights. If you are flexible and are willing to travel at a different time or on a different flight *if* AirTran changes their flight schedules then I say go for it.

We've flown exculsively with Air Tran for the last few years now out of PHL to MCO and a couple of other cities. We've been lucky in that the only schedule changes have been a couple of minutes. The fare that you got seems to be a good fare. But like others have posted, from other cities there have been schedule changes. I've read from others here that if they change your flight to an inconvenient time to call and they normally will move you to another flight that is more to your liking without charging you a change fee. Just keep checking the website to track you flight times in case they change.

That is a good price. As long as you're ok with getting from point A to B within a 24-hour time period, and not picky about whether you have a direct flight or a two-stop layover, you will be fine.

This will be our third time flying with Airtran out of BWI. Never had our flight times change. We've had good experiences with them so far.
