i've never flown airtran before but am considering changing a southwest reward ticket to airtran since they have more availability. does anyone here use airtran from chicago to orlando and if so, are flight schedule changes a frequent occurance?
thanks

Every airline changes their schedules from time to time. No airline changes it more than any other in my experience. Ive worked at 2 airlines and with the FAA now. I have flown airTran many times and enjoyed them about as much as every other carrier. Most of the time good, some of the time bad.

I have flown Airtran many times. My flight time has only changed once. I have never flown Southwest so I can not comment on what they do nor can I tell you that things have not changed since Southwest took over Airtran.

I have flown through airtran many a times and enjoyed every time, but cant help you on southwest.

Well, Remember that AirTran IS Southwest these days, You should not have any problems moving rewards from RR to A+ or vs versa.

I fly southwest almost weekly for business so no problems there, But SWA is full because of people like me.

thanks all. we actually ended up with united going and southwest coming home, so i guess i won't experience airtran just yet.

i recently changed our southwest standard reward flight to a southwest "operated by airtran" flight and while i had the southwest agent on the phone i specifically asked him about airtran's famous history of changing their flight times.

he said that now that they are booking flights under southwest they have to use southwest's policies (not sure exactly how he phrased this) and that the flight times would not be shifting as in the past. it will be interesting to see if this is true. i also confirmed that our bags were still free. what i should have discussed was the different seating policy. the different procedure isn't an issue for us, but i could see how it could be for some.
