Airtran changed our Flights

I did agree, I agree to pay if I change my ticket. I paid for a flight without a layover. That is what I paid for it is wrong that when you do that they expect you to take one with a layover. Read the terms??? What difference does that make anyway?? They can do whatever they want to do but heaven forbid if you need to change then you pay....they can change and change but you the consumer PAY.

but I will make sure to post if I DO NOT get towel animals in my room each and every night of my visit as that is a MAJOR issue.

:rotfl2: That's funny! I'm with you, though. Good luck and keep on posting!

I just got the call from Disney yesterday that my departure flight out of Pittsburgh has now been changed. We were to leave at 3:00 with layover in atlanta and arrive at 7:45 on our day of departure..Now they changed it to not leaving until 5:14 and arriving at 9:15 in MCO. I booked mine the Disney and decided today that I would call Airtran directly and they were very nice. Booked me on a non-stop flight that leaves at 9:00 am and did not charge me a dime. I think this was nice considering that they only changed my travel plans by 1:15 minutes. But now I get to spend most of the day in Disney with free dining so I'm happy. Hope everyone else get what they want when there is a change. I fly a couple times a year and this is not uncommon to be changed. But I was quite suprised at how easy it was to get my plans switched thru Airtran....

For the most part our flights have been on SWA. Rarely I am unable to get exact dates and we arent flexible. This happened when I booked our next trip. I booked in January for a trip in May. I didnt get a terrific rate but it was OK. We booked Spirit since they were the least expensive still showing availability. Since January they have changed both my outbound and return 4 times. I cringe to open my email each day thinking they will change it yet again. They offered a refund but there is no availability with any other airline(holiday). Now that we arent getting in till 11P and have over an hour drive home the kids may miss school the next day.

We are at the mercy of the airlines and its just the way it is. Its always been this way from way back when. I think I've been lucky to not have this hapen using SWA in the past 6-7 years.

Hope it all works out for you! :)

GEEZ.....sorry that I posted anything here. It seems latley that people are attacked for what they post. I thought that these boards were to get and share info with other people. It seems that everytime I read things here someone is getting all over a poster for something they may say....are OPINIONS not allowed???

I agree that some people here are quite acrimonious toward people venting complaints about airlines. I, myself, was accused of being "mean" because I wanted to sit next (or at least, close) to my 8yo son on a flight. and because I felt shortchanged because I was never given an opportunity, in any way shape or form to choose a seat. I was treated rudely by the customer service representative when I called the next morning to see if we could be assigned seats closer together (like in the same row, maybe). Then I was treated rudely by certain posters here, who treated me as if I were a country yokel who had never flown before. Nothing could be further from the truth. I fly at least once or twice a year to attend continuing medical education conference (so, I have an doctorate, not uneducated or illiterate at all), and additionally fly at least twice a year on vacation. I know that #@$* happens, and that it also that it tends to run downhill. But, I also am compassonate enough to commiserate with those who have been #@$*ed on by the system.

Nice Post Delilah!! It is kind of funny how all of these "Frequent Fliers" have all of the critisism in the world for you Belle when you are dealling with an issue with AirTran. They are not true frequent fliers in my book. A true frequent flier will provide you with accurate information to help you come up with a solution and help answer any flying questions based on their experience. My suggestion to you is to call back and talk to a different rep and if your still not happy then ask to speak to a supervisor. If you are not satisfied with the supervisor then request the phone number to the corporate office. I would call the corporate office then and it most likely be taken care of. You can also go the route of the BBB. A 5 hour change can happen but it is truly unacceptable for AirTran not to bend over backwards for you. Like I said, there are resources to use to remedy this but you don't have to take the bashing from the so called "FF'ers".

I am curious what you would think the airline could do. If I understand the original OP they can change the flight at no charge or they can have a full refund. If the original flight is no longer available, then I'm not quite sure what else can be done?

We booked AirTran through Disney several weeks ago because I could get the exact flight times that I wanted plus a good price. I have been really nervous about AirTran after all that I have read. Got a call yesterday from Disney Travel that our direct flight from Dallas to Orlando has been cancelled. They will put us on an earlier flight (5:30 a.m.) and we will have to go to Atlanta and then on to Orlando, but will still arrive around the same time. It makes me mad that we won't have the direct flight, but at least we will get there around the same time. I just hope that we don't get anymore surprises from AirTran!

I am a frequent flyer and if I had a suggestion that would have helped Belle I would have posted it. The problem in her situation was that Air Tran changed from 2 nonstops PIT/MCO to 1 nonstop per day. Belle was not happy with the times on the remaining non-stop, which I totally understand, I would not have been happy with my vacation being cut short. So her options were to take the remaining non-stop or take a connection through Atlanta. You can talk to all the supervisors at Air Tran, it's not going to bring back the flight times she originally had. Posters were not "bashing" Belle, simply explaining that she is not going to get compensation for this change. Her options were to take the non-stop or a connection (with no change fee), or get a refund. It's not what anyone wants to hear, but it's the way it is. I'm not being unsympathetic, just realistic.

I want to thank the OP for the original posting about her flights. I was told by Disney that both flights with Air Trans where changed. The first one I was happy with as I got into MCO earlier. The second not happy as I would leave 2 hours earlier. I just excepted this and did nothing.

After seeing this post and reading all of them I phoned Air Trans and not only changed my flights to arrive earlier 1 1/2 hours earlier :cool1: and but also leave 4 hours later :thumbsup2

I am now staying on one flight with a stop over in Atlanta both ways. :cheer2: Before I had major waits in Atlanta :sad2:

So now I get to spend my last day in the parks :cheer2: :cheer2: and have the OP to thank for that. THANK YOU!!!!

I would like to send pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: to the OP and hope things will work out for their trip.

i understand - it's very frustrating. this has happened every time i fly air tran to disney. the first time they pushed back my flight from leaving MCO at 7pm to 8pm (not a huge deal, although annoying becos it got me back to philly later and i had to work the next day). this time, they did the opposite, i was supposed to leave MCO at 8pm and they changed it to 7pm. again it was annoying, because it took an hour away from our last day, but still liveable. i have come to expect it from them  if it was a more drastic time change, i sure would have called them! hope this works out for you and doesn't put a damper on your trip.

This is exactly the reply I was thinking of.

thanks for the info on this thread

say what you want to say but at 129 per person per ticket...I would be happy with just about anything at this point.

So when my flight times got bumped and had me into MCO at 10pm when we have ADR's at Ohana at 8:00, I was just going to let it go and be happy...

until I read this thread.

so I called AIRTRAN and they were very helpful. I got an earlier flight and will NOW be in Orlando at 3pm!!!!

this is even better than my ORIGINAL flight that had us in at 7:41!!

so actually the change works out for me!!!

HAVING SAID THAT:

At that price, I am just going to fly and be happy....and thankful that I won't be in a car for 24 hrs with three girls!!! :rotfl2:

I think it would be hard for us to even drive for that price including gas, food and lodging!!

I got a great deal.

now if they seat us on the wing of the plane, something will have to be said :teeth:

I am glad that it worked out for you. See there is so much knowledge on this board and others that you can learn something new everyday and use it to help you out.

Just curious since it sounds like you booked air thru Disney but called Air Tran to change the flights. I booked thru WDW and American changed my flights so I was leaving 2 hours earlier then the connecting flight changed to later so I was getting up at some unreal hour to sit at our layover for almost 5 hours. I called WDW travel and they were able to change it for me. Is it easier to call the airline directly or the travel company or doesn't it make a difference? :confused3

To the OP I understand your frustration with buying tickets based on price AND schedule and then they change it. Up to an hour or maybe 2 wouldn't be such a big deal but any more than that they are not honoring the contract for the flight we purchased. It does sound like most airlines are good about changing your flight when this happens if one is available without fees which is the least they can do. But I do agree this is frustrating that the changes are the norm nowadays on all airlines.

I called the Air Tran directly mainly as I was at work and the I had a toll free number :teeth:
I am sure if I had called WDW they would be great in helping me :teeth:

Wow - some of you have really thin skins here. I didn't read any criticism here towards the OP, just people stating FACTS about airline policy. :confused3

Having a plane ticket is NOT a guarantee that you will get on a flight. It's NOT a guarantee that you will get your assigned seat. It's NOT a guarantee that your flight will not be cancelled or delayed. It's NOT a guarantee that the airline will hold your flight so you can have another drink in the airport bar (as some passengers on the show Airline seem to believe). The airline industry CANNOT be compared to the retail sales business.

Yes, it's a pain when your flight is delayed or cancelled, when you lose your assigned seat, when flight times change, etc., but this is practically the norm these days. You don't get compensation for being inconvenienced, even if the airline causes you to miss a connection, an important meeting, or you have to start your vacation late.

You can be rebooked at no charge if your flight time changes significantly (amount of time depends on the airline), which has already been mentioned to the OP.

I'm not an employee of any airline, just a frequent flyer who is REALISTIC and doesn't believe in wasting time getting angry and upset over things out of my control.
