I am considering purchasing airfare from Airtran from Tampa to White Plains, NY with a 37 minute layover in Atlanta. Does anybody know if this give me enough time to deboard the plane and board the next? We won't be the only ones doing this because this is how the flight is listed on their website.

You want my honest thoughts.

37 minutes is pushing it in Atlanta. However, on your side is that EVERY AirTran flight I have had out of Atlanta has been LATE! (I understand they aren't as bad everyplace, but here in thier home town.......) Maybe it's these tight connections that screw them up?

On the positive side, AirTran is all in one terminal so you don't have to change terminals. Get off your plane and go DIRECTLY to the new gate, do not stop at the restrooms, gift shop and or food courts until you find out what is going on at your gate.

I think it is enought time, granted you flight in to Atlanta is on time. I found ATL easy to navigate and get around... though I had almost 3 hours to check it out! Loved the train from terminal to terminal. I get to check out Denver in May and it is a mini Atlanta in it's set up.

Thanks for the information. I have a choice of 6 am out of Tampa stopping in Atlanta for 1 hr. 40 minutes or 7 am out of Tampa stopping only for 37 minutes. I guess I'm just thinking how valuable that extra hour's sleep will be after a week at the beach with 3 kids and then having to return the rental car and airport security and check-in. I've never flown Airtran before, but I don't want to worry all week on vacation about missing a connecting flight either.

I always said that as well - its so easy because its all in the same terminal but this last time we travelled Airtran we had to to go to a different terminal and it didn't look like we were the only ones as there were quite a few Airtran planes where we landed.

That said I have flown Airtran alot with alot of tight connection times (I think my usual is about 43 minutes) and I have never had a problem...even once when I thought we would it turned out we were just getting off the plane and back on the same one!
